fast4 unlimited dialup number changing?

just got this email form breathe (who now own/opewrate fast4?..)

"We hope you are continuing to enjoy the service with us.

This email is to confirm changes being made to your 24/7 package.

Please be advised that the 0808 number you are dialling will be
disconnected at the end of January 2009. This number is 08089916276.

We have a new number which you will need to ensure is amended in your dial
up connection in order to continue access. The number needs to be amended
to:

08089916234..."

will this mean a better / faster / slower service?

what confuses me is that I have been using the 'new' number already (for some months now..)

in the last couple of days the connection has been erratic to say the least-droppin off after just a few minutes..

my usage hasnt increased, so cant see anything to do with bandwith excesses..

If more people are being switched to the new number then the service will suffer.

Anyway you should be on BroadBand by now.

Not all ISP's insist on a long term contract for BB.

How do you know it`s not BB ready?

Sometimes BT "tag" your line to prevent "outside" services being used, such as indirect dialing.

Usually when you go to any BB provider online, they ask you to put your telephone number in to test your line for BB suitability.

Of course you could be part of the 2% in the UK not yet geared up for BB.
  • I dont really do much large downloads, and what I have seen tie in to phone or tv setups as well, which I dont need/want.

Fair enough but there are quite a few very good ISP,s that do 30 day only contracts with no phone or TV tie ins.
