Forum Jump drop-down in thread view

The default forum in the drop-down at the bottom of the thread view is for the forum containing that thread. This is very useful in theory, but in practice can be very annoying because it always takes you to the first page in the forum, even if you're viewing a thread from several pages in.

The result is that I tend to press "back" on the browser instead, which has to be done more than once if I've made a posting, wasting time and my and MSE's bandwidth. Also, the resulting forum page hasn't been updated with the status of the thread I've been viewing.

So, a simple solution would be for the drop-down to link to the current page of the current forum. This should be a trivial modification to implement. Any thoughts?

It would most likely require quite a bit of template and/or source code modifications to the vBulletin software because the thread view page needs to know what page you were viewing in the first place.

The pages have probably been cached on your computer's hard drive so the whole page won't be transferred again.
