Cream arrived today with a best before date 01/2009, should I be unhappy?

Just wanted some opinions on this. If you bought a hand cream (one of those organic natural ones), received it 9 days before the end of Jan and it had "best if used by" date 01/2009, would you be unhappy providing that
*nothing was mentioned in the description about the expiry date
*this sort of cream may lose some of it's properties after best before date passed
Thanks for your replies!

depends how much it cost. Id email seller as they may even be unaware of this. I know normally organic stuff has a short shelf life but this is a bit too short!
  • Thanks for your opinion. It's not really expensive, £5+postage, but there are quite a few places in internet that sell it for around similar price so I would've definitely avoided this one if I knew. Emailed the seller asking politely if they have another one to exchange. Read some opinions about using the stuff after best before date and people don't recommend it:(

I think you have done the right thing. It is perfectly reasonable to ask for an exchange as no-one could expect to use a whole tube of hand cream in 9 dyas, even in this weather

Was it a Lush cream just out of curiosity? The expiry date on those is rather small and most people are unaware that a date even exists.

What happens after this stuff 'expires'? Does it turn into battery acid or something?

Most lush items don't expire for 14 months from the date they are made. Some of the cleansers are only 3 months though, and the face masks are 3 weeks.

Of course not  But the natural ingredients go off, as you would expect, and the product is no longer as effective as it once was.

As it it was still in date when delivered imo nothing wrong with what the seller has done. I doubt it's suddenly going to under go any significant change come 31st Jan.

Therefore not at all worth complaining about imo.

But it should have been mentioned on the listing. Then the OP could have made an informed decision whether to purchase or not.

No it shouldnt. The item is as described. Its not out of date at time of sale or delivery.

If the buyer cares about specifics like time left to expiry date it's up to them to ask before purchase if not specified on the listing.
