Yes that was the 1986 film, unfortunately i was referring to the letter that a young kid wrote him. He addressed it to the president of russia, russia if i remember correctly and it got to him and he replied. The kid was asking could we all live in peace or something.

Mrs Thatcher wouldnt have ruined Middle England to save those in the lower working classes.

Nor would she have raised taxes.

Most of us would be far better off if the Tories were in power during a recession.

    Hey Derv are you loaded?

Who cares if its nice? Its what is needed to fix this sick country and get the EDIT [workshy, bone idle so and sos that expect everything for free] to get of their lazy fat !!!!!!. I love the fact that supposedly those that are the most vulnerable and on the breadline have enough cash for fags, designer clothes then still have enough on the side to get themselves hideously obese. Again, not aimed at those who work hard to put on their table then find themselves the victim of a downturn. Most of whom are sick to the back teeth as I am about those I slur having far too easy a time.

How many chavs are below the recommended weight? I say that should be the baseline for those on benefits. And from what I see locally, most of them are eating far too many calories for their own good

I'm really dissapointed when I read diatribes like this that miss out the phrases 'hard working families' and 'tough on the workshy'. Must try harder next time.

Is that loaded as in lots of money or loaded where you go to the fridge and eat a large jar of pickled onions at 4am in the morning? Reminds me of that "Let him have it" misunderstanding.

Yep. Because North sea oil meant coal was pointless. Maggie figured the thrid world dangerous conditions required to mine a pointless product needed stopping. I am guessing on top of the bailouts we have now, we would also have a load of Health and safety claims for lung cancer caused by coal dust, as well as vibration white finger. Closing the pits was a price worth paying, most of all because we will have an energy source remaning once the black gold becomes more scarce.

Energy policy in the UK has been a complete joke since the 1960's. Of all the reasons for the miners strike in the 1980's Maggie's empathy with the miners enduring third world working conditions is among the more 'unusual'.

  • We've now got more people riding on the cart than pulling it so no wonder the country is bankrupt again. BTW love the idea of a reverse lottery, why not cap benefits at 35 x basic hourly rate per household even if they've made the lifestyle choice to have those 15 designer children, and give them a chance to budget for once like a working man.
  • Shows how weak their argument is.

its like people slagging off Michael Schumacers ocasional dubious driving by saying he must be naughty cos that other German bloke Hitler naughty was too.

Come off it, I don't doubt some intern or researcher views it from time to time in between posting on the BBC football messageboards.

Though I suspect that of all parties, you go onto the yahoo boards, and you'll get no end of BNP hafe fuelled bile.
