Sorry they just failed to keep their promis
Privatisation under the New Labour government
The New Labour government (elected in 1997 once almost all of the privatisation process had been completed) did not fulfil its earlier commitment to keep the railways in the public sector. Instead, it left the new structure in place, even completing the privatisation process with the last remaining sales. Its one innovation in the early years was the creation of the Strategic Rail Authority (SRA), initially in shadow form until the Transport Act 2000 was brought into force on 1 February 2001 and the SRA assumed its full legal powers.0 -
Hang on a minute, do you want to jog your memory back to the state of the coffers when Maggie took over? I think the polite term is fooked.
Want to remind us which party the conservatives inherited it from. Yep, you guessed it, Labour!:mad::mad:I take it you have forgotten that for the first time in this nation's history, socialists overspent and went begging to the IMF for forgivess. The appearance that Brown cares has lots to do with getting re-elected and nothing about getting this nation back on track. Sometimes, you need tough love to fix the situation
Some of us can actually live through the good times without state support. Shame Labour didnt twig onto that, or we wouldnt have a public debt approaching 300% including bailouts and PFI..
When Maggie took over she had increasing revenues from North Sea Oil which she used to finance a recession 'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
Dear Gordon,
it's over between us.
mewbs x0 -
So Mr. Brown, will the UK be the last victim of your misrule? How do you imagine the scots, northern irish & welsh will react after the next election to an eton english tory majority who will slash the precious public sector? Are you actually Alec Salmond in disguise?0

Either that or has four children for the extra benefitsWhen Maggie took over she had increasing revenues from North Sea Oil which she used to finance a recession
Yep. Because North sea oil meant coal was pointless. Maggie figured the thrid world dangerous conditions required to mine a pointless product needed stopping. I am guessing on top of the bailouts we have now, we would also have a load of Health and safety claims for lung cancer caused by coal dust, as well as vibration white finger. Closing the pits was a price worth paying, most of all because we will have an energy source remaning once the black gold becomes more scarce.0 -
Why do labour have such economic incompetence that it takes the tories years to even attempt to balance the books in trying to clean up your mess?
Also, why did you set up the FSA? Do you think they have actually done their job? If so, why didn't they actually bother to notice that too much exposure to one specifically unstable market (US subprime) could end in a catastrophe?0 -
You are the weakest link..............goodbye.
P.S You are a complete and utter tttttwatend the tv tax0 -
I'd say:-
Gordon, even if your heart is in the right place, the average British voter seems to have greater clarity of thinking when it comes to our economy and how our money should be spent. If your continued reckless spending of taxpayers money brings the country to its knees you will never be forgiven for what is tantamount to treason.
And by the way you know, don't you, that Tony realised this was coming. So he made sure he got out in time and left it all in your lap!!!0 -
