  • who's key did they have when you dropped the car off
maybe if they have reset the ecu they would have needed both keys to program them to the car
the light on the dash sounds like the imobiliser so may not be correctly programmed
remember it is nice to be important
but more important to be nice ;)

  • Obviously, you've changed the battery in the key.

    Right?
  • dont know how you can break a transponder
neither do i,but i dont doubt that its possible.

    Right?

maybe it doesnt have a battery?

my transit key is totally sealed and charges up from the ignition switch rather than have a battery in it.

    Right?

BMW's keys get recharged when they are in the ignition, so no battery changing needed.

I've never paid more than about £40 for a key from BMW and it comes coded and ready to go. Obviously to the private person in off the street then they will charge full whack...

As for the lights not coming on/flashing/whatever - as with most cars these days you can have different settings for everything. One BMW option in the setup is if you want the indicators to flash when you open or lock the car.

maybe the op's key hadnt been used for a while and reset?

    Again Thankyou
Not knowing much about cars I never even thoughts about battery, however my key is used daily so I cant see it being that.

All problems started when they had the car to fix the stearing which looking at reciept this is what they did when they had it and crashed it:
Calling fault memory in diagnosing system
carry out test modiels for steering system found fault with SZL (what ever that is)
    Program/encode unit(s) with CAS
    Initialise tyre failer indicator?
Ca\rry out steering angle sensor adjustment
    Set compressor inlet
    Initialise sunroof and power windows
    Replace steering column control switch
882054/Str angle sen (which I think is part they replaced)

Crashed copmputer & electrics but I wasnt chargged for that !

It was only after all this was done that the fault began

why not just go iinto the bmw garage and ask to see a manager and ask for him to explain the bill and all the faults and anything that happened and what they done to you instead of complaining on here if you ask him nicely and say you dont agree with a few things they should be more than welcome to help and explain things to you and sort it out , sorry but hubby is a bmw manager and i know if you are resonable to them they will help you ,
