i've had my PPI complaints in since June 2008 and all i get is a letter every few months stating it's waiting to be allocated and if i am suffering hardship because of these charges only, i should let them know.

prior to this, most of my charges complaints took around 14 months to complete.

FOS timescales are up to around 18 months now.

  • I've noticed that the claims have started to take much longer than before. I've made three claims in total all through FOS.

1st was with HSBC and was settled within the space of a month after my first letter to FOS. Think this was a goodwill gesture.

2nd was with Co-op Bank and took around 9 months to get payment from first letter.

3rd claim is with Capital One and started 12 months ago. I've spoken and written to FOS numerous times but always get the same reply, got everything together, just waiting to be passed over, back log!

    Could really use the money!

    Hi there

Yes I believe they can vary, even though the volumes of these actual complaints have risen again even more than last year, and also this can depend if the case is complex or not as well, where its moved on to the ombudsman himself.

My first one had taken approx 14 months from start to finish, this was paid out Jan 2008 (last year), but even on fast tracking this can still take a long time, again if it gets too complicated it may be moved on again.

The one I have in now is fast tracked, this was submitted in approx June 2008, but its moved on to the adjudicator who closely works with the ombudsman, I heard this last week, so that is 8 months and expecting to hear something by the end of this month, fingers crossed.

Hope you all hear sooner with a good result rather than later.;)

  • I sent my letter to the FOS last June also and just got a response in my favour in January. Hope this is of help.
  • I spoke to the Fo today I Had sent a complaint to FO in connection with Cap 1 and Redcats. They recieved the letter on the 27th Jan.

When I spoke them today they said that they were now working on cases from 21st January and that I should hear that the complaint had been passed to the adjudicator in the next 2wks.
    Could this be true?

    Hi Moonflower

    This is quite possible.
I would contact them again just over a fortnight's time just to see what they say then, good luck with this.;)

    Hi

Yes let them know hun, they will take a look and hopefully move this on quicker for you.
One of mine also taken approx 14 months, but this time its a little quicker because of fast track due to current financial circumstances.

Good luck and please let us know how you get on, cheers.

    Hi there

I would contact them to let them know if your struggling financial hardship, they may consider moving your case on quicker, one of mine had taken 14 months from start to finish - yet it was rather complex to what I was told, even though these volumes are getting higher than before, its worth just letting them know your current situation - to see if your eligible for fast tracking, even though you have been waiting a good while already, they may move it on quicker, good luck.;)

    Hi,

I sent mine in to FOS re: welcome finance and received their acknowledgement back on 12th March 2008. I stopped receiving their updates in around June last year but have rung them every month since and when I last called (about 2 weeks ago) they said they are just dealing with the end of 2007 so will probably be another couple of months or so...hey ho, guess these things are just taking time.

    Good Luck everyone!!!!
