    Sammy that's great, well done!

    My bmi's 35 eeek.

As for getting off sugary foods, I've only ever been able to do it by cold turkey. I was once told by a nutritionist friend to cut down at first, to one choc bar a day, then every other day, but I just can't do that. I ended up buying a multipack to last me a week and eating it all straight off. It's really hard to start with just cutting it straight out, but now after a few weeks I'm not missing it, I was going to let myself have one bar at asda yesterday to beat the pmt blues, but I just didn't fancy it, which for me is amazing.

Oh I hate the cold turkey approach, well done on you, I cannot stand the withdrawl headaches and the horrible wishy washy feelings.

but its gonna have to come somehow!!

have made a deal with Mum to sit down on Saturday and make a Weightwatchers diet plan and shopping list. it will mean waiting another week but its better then me and her arguing over tescos!

Just seen this and was wondering what my fellow dieters thought of it

i have tried Xenical/Orlistat (only a weeks trial of some a friend was prescribed to see if they worked for me) and they are alright as they reduce the amount of fat you absorb from food, but it needs to be expelled so the side effects can be less than desirable. i.e. diarrohea... so then you cut fat out of your diet to avoid the side effects and that's really how you lose the weight....

but you need to reeducate yourself with any diet and stay on low fat foods or you just pile it back on

It doesn't address excess sugars/carbs either...

It was discussed on MSE once before but deleted as a thread as it was swapping personal details but since most of you know that stuff anyway. How about those of you with kids wanting holidays doing house swaps?

Spud I am almost certain that my sister took that diet drug. She had to get it from Doctors and the number 2's were vile as it contained all fat...yuk! She did say though that although great it never really tackled the issue of eating high fat foods and bad eating habits. Great if you want to stay on it for life but I could see if becoming like a yo yo diet. You take it loose loads of weight then stop taking it and put it all back on

I've taken that drug. I was living with my dad and had no choice over food, and he was a pie and chips kinda guy, so the side effects were pretty grim! It didn't help with the weight loss though (but I didn't realise at the time that the weight gain was due to the depo injection).

One thing I found useful was some herbal things I got from boots, you take them after meals and they suppress your appetite to stop snacking. I found I got used to them after a few days/couple of weeks though. They were good to kick start dieting though.

Wow, writing things down makes me realise how many times I've lost weight and piled it back on!
Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.
