Now I was going to join Tesco's diets but that isn't going to be very moneysaving.
Buffy, I joined Tesco diets through quidco for about £18 for six weeks and got £15 cashback - not sure if they are still doing it but it was a good deal.Mortgage OP 2025 £7050/7000Mortgage OP 2024 £7700/7000

By the way when I say shove my wages away and see if we miss it - I mean I will be in Aldi and Lidl more and be rigorous on meal planning etc, it is not like we don't spend it - but I think we could do better. OH's tax return is turning about to be less scary than we thought so it is just good timing really. I don't earn enough to make it luxury money IYSWIM. I could cook far more cheaply if at home too... I am sure some of you know how the grocery bill skyrockets when you buy expensive food because it's 'easier'... guilty as charged...0

Sammy I loved the first half of my maternity leave but as Elliot got bigger I found it a struggle just watching him crawl around all day- I don't want to belittle it because it was also a very lovely time but they don't give you much back at that age - now he is interacting much more I think I might enjoy it...
I get paid on Friday, so I am going to shove my wages into savings, and the same next month, and if we don't miss it - then I'll take the plunge. Also gives me time to use up some holiday so I can get some house jobs done while we're still paying for nursery. So it would be April probably before I leave which would suit me with the weather etc.
Bunny I think TA posts will pay around £7/8 an hour - certainly in my local authority but being close to London might make it higher here... (?)
Right I am off as my laptop battery is about to die, might do some reading and have an early night... later alligators x
DD - i totally relate to what you're saying about babies giving less back!
The salary thing is a great idea, and a very good way to work out whether you can or can't manage.........
and btw, has elliot complained about the colour of his walls yet???I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

They are still doing thanks Skint, wouldn't have thought of it!
do they do a thing where you can add your diet foods directly to your basket?
cos although I am quite keen (Mum's not but she never is about anything so hey ho) I am not sure the faff on line shopping would be doable. but then having it all laid out.......
and how much do I want this?

Spud, I'd take it in a heart beat, sorry but I really would!
And the tesco thing is no go, its too hard to find a plan that suits Mum and Me.
and to be honest it would be too complicated.
argghhhhh!Nevertheless she persisted.0 -
Sammy that's great, well done!
My bmi's 35 eeek.
As for getting off sugary foods, I've only ever been able to do it by cold turkey. I was once told by a nutritionist friend to cut down at first, to one choc bar a day, then every other day, but I just can't do that. I ended up buying a multipack to last me a week and eating it all straight off. It's really hard to start with just cutting it straight out, but now after a few weeks I'm not missing it, I was going to let myself have one bar at asda yesterday to beat the pmt blues, but I just didn't fancy it, which for me is amazing.Unless I say otherwise 'you' means the general you not you specifically.0 -
Hi Luc
Thanks for the Tax info the other day, dropped an e-mail to the CIOT & got a really nice helpful reply from a lady on the education team.
Hope everything is going well with bean.
Cheers
