  • when should travel insurance begin ? for example we have booked our flights and accomodation for Easter hols to Florida, our travel insurance is a year policy (08/04/06 - 07/04/07) which commences on the day we fly out, should i have taken it out from today ? Im worried if something happens and we have to cancel I wont get refund, as it says cancellelation cover commences 08/04/2006. what do you normally do ? I have a 14 day approval period.
    Many thanks.

you should take the policy out from today's date rather than the date you travel otherwise you are right, you won't benefit from cancellation cover, one of the main benefits of travel insurance. With single trip policies it can be taken out 9 months prior to travelling but with an annual policy, it makes no sense not to have it NOW. You can cancel it and take out an alternative policy or just call them and bring the date forward.

    Hi digp

I've moved your thread over to the travel board as I think you may find a lot more info there.
    Good luck
