Biooil is currently £8.42 for a 200 ml bottle with amazon. I am 23 weeks pregnant and using it to prevent stretch marks - so far so good. I have some raised scars on my shoulder but keep forgetting to put it on so dont know if it would work on them or not

I used Dermatix silicone gel on scars on my chest and although it took a while, they faded and flattened really well. I would never wear low cut tops but can now, although I've realised a few scars are nothing in the grand scheme of things!
P.S. Just don't mistake the gel for eye drops as I did!!0 -
Asda have a generic bio-oil beside the expensive stuff that worked well for me.
My scar is under my collarbone (pacemaker) and was really raised and sore. The dermatologist gave me haelan tape which you cut out and put over the scar during the day and took off at night. It was really good but could only be used short term because it could thin the skin. When I came off that I got put onto kelo-coat cream which went on morning and night to the scar and that took the redness away.
The scar is still slightly pink 2 years down the line but much improved, the lumps are away and the pain has disappeared completely.
You can buy both those products over the counter but they are really expensive and should probably be given under the supervision of a doctor anyway so maybe ask your GP for advice?
For just covering the scar up I use dermacolor camoflage creme which is used by theatre actors and transvestites apparently because it's so good. It's like uber concealer and comes in thousands of colours which means you can make the scar disappear completely for a short while.
Good luck!0 -
Gels and oils don't work that well on Keloids, there's only a few options (often none).
- Surgery, scar revision, my GP recommended me but the surgeon wouldn't do it citing the 50%+ recurring rate.
- Steroid injections, the best option for most, steroids are injected into the scar which flattens and "normalises" the pigmentation.
- Radiation, admittedly I don't know much about this.
- Cryotherapy, freezing and removing the scar.

My partner had a biopsy and they said it was a keloid. Was given steroid/cortisone injections and the keloid got bigger. Then it was surgically removed with radiation afterwards. Now it's growing again and has now been told it is fibromatosis. Dr said she can cut it out but it will just come back again, doesn't give you any confidence does it. Does anyone know if a keloid can change to fibromatosis or is that just rubbish. thankyou0
