Urgent advice re lemon curd set point

Hi,
I am about to start making some lemon curd for the first time but I have just realised I don't have a jam thermometer. The recipe says when it gets to 70 degrees thats when its about to set. Any ideas on how else I can test this setting point without using a thermometer?

My mum used to put a little teaspoon of jam on a cold saucer, to see if it would start to set, if it stays runny after a few minutes, continue boiling. HTH0

i would have thought you would have seen it beginning to thicken its a long time since i have made it but didnt use a saucer or thermometer0

There's a lemon curd recipe in the Old Style Recipe Collection (thank you Glad) that's very simple and doesn't need jam thermometers or setting points and it comes highly recommended...

Lemon curd shouldnt need a jam thermometer to test setting point or a cold saucer to check its set because it uses partially cooked eggs and a good whisking elbow to get it to set when its difficult to beat its done.
one hint to not get you DH or DS, DD to check whether its set or not because until there is virtually none left it never is set!!!!

The recipe I use involves stirring all the ingredients in a bowl over a pan of simmering water. After 10 minutes of stirring it starts to thicken and it is at setting point when you are able to leave a trail of curd over the surface. I cut down the amount of sugar in ours as OH loves a really lemony and tart version.Enjoying an MSE OS life0

Okay, now I feel like a complete idiot as I have searched the whole recipe index and can't find the recipe for lemon curd. As I picked up a bag of six lemons in Lidl the other day for 29p I quite fancied giving it a go tomorrow.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

Oh that looks easy peesy.
Can you just put it in a tupperware tub in the fridge once it's cooled or do you need to sterilise a jar and leave it to do the jam thing?May all your dots fall silently to the ground.0 -
I do my jars and lids in the dishwasher and have never had a problem. I've never considered tupperware as a suitable receptacle for jam.
