DEO problem - Voluntary or not??!!
Comments

Quickly and not exhaustive ! :
Gross income not net, so forget about your pension.
Liability orders will no longer be done by a court the CSA will do them themselves !
Assessments will be set for a year ( unless there is a monster change in income, sorry can't remember the %age )
Already in place the ability for them to see what credit you have and " suggest " you use it to pay any arrears ( regardless of it is their fault the arrears exist )
Thats just off the top of my head ! There is plenty more !0 -
OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And we thought they were bad now.

The courts have nothing to do with DEO's the CSA issue them themselves.
They are trying to phase out people using SO because as you say the CSA don't like not having control of your OH bank balance !
The recent changes mean DEO's will become the CSA's normal way of collecting, which is a disgrace.
If i were you just set up the SO ( you don't need to send them anything back to do this ) and then phone them up and DEMAND that you get confirmation of the DEO being cancelled. I bet they won't like and will try and fob you off but stand your ground.
Just make sure your OH's national insurance number is set up properly on the SO.
Can anyone do this?
By that I mean, can I demand that the CSA cancel my DEO and let me set up a standing order?
I am paying arrears and there is no ongoing liability0 -
No. If the DEO is imposed by the CSA it is as good as impossible to have removed.0

I guess it may depend on what type of DEO you have but i'm sure Mark will answer definitively.
Our DEO was enforced and we originally had no control over it and could not stop it at all.
It only became 'voluntary' apparently when he changed employer in August. They said that he had no arrears and as it was a new employer that they could not enforce the old DEO. We stupidly (as we realise now) agreed that we would keep the DEO as a voluntary agreement. We had a letter through stating it was voluntary and when it went pear shaped we were told by CSA that as it was 'voluntary' we could unvolunteer if we wanted.
I don't think this is the case with an enforced DEO because of arrears.0 -

I think if the DEO is put in place by the CSA because of previous non-compliance - then its pretty much impossible to have it removed.
If you're paying by DEO because you requested to, you should be able to have it changed.:beer:0 -
My DH paid by voluntary DEO and just told them he wanted to change to SO. They said it would be easier by direct debit - but we're not fooled that easily! He now pays by monthly SO.Sealed Pot Challenge #817 £50 banked
