Thanks everyone - the replies have made me realise that I am not alone with this problem, and I will also show my boyfriend the replies, as it will make him feel better. Unfortunately at present we are in a flat (hope to move to larger place soon) so cant put the cat downstairs but will just hope that the cat sleeps through the night, I think the cold spell started this off as she is usually fine.

Such a shame we gave in when she was a kitten and let her sleep on the bed though.......... we wouldnt be in this situation now!

If it helps any we are in a flat at the moment as well, a tiny one bedroom one and if my boys start mewing, I certainly don't hear them with the living room and the bedroom doors both shut and the bedroom is right across from the living room.
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.
  • Just found a previous thread on here - think I have found a solution for the cold (and this looks like my cat by the way!!):

can i recommend a product to stop a cat scratching that really worked for us. Tinker came to live with us at 8 years old. She was wrecking the place trying to get through doors during the night or the carpet in the middle of the lounge floor. Scratch No More from CleanEasy, its expensive but cheaper than a new carpet every week and like i say it worked instantly for us.
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
  • Thank you for the Scratch no more info - I cant find the CleanEasy website though - would you have a link to it? Sorry!

I've looked for this before, doesn't seem to be available online. I have asked my mum (who gets a catalogue) to get me some.

Our cat sleeps in the garage where she has a a number of cosy places , food, water and a litter tray. On staying in the house she ALWAYS tramples on our heads throughout the night demanding our attention so we decided we had to get some sleep and she would have to sleep in the garage.

During the recent cold spell we relented (she is about 10) and she slept in with us, and was as good as gold, then the weather improved and she reverted to tap dancing on our heads again, so she is going back in the garage.
  • cats really dont think things through do they?! I do think they lack common sense and my cat is so cute when I wake up in the morning I cant be cross with her - but am so fed up with being woken up!

The annoying thing is it is literally only the past 2 weeks she has done this, and she always sleeps on my boyfriends side of the bed, and when she wakes up its him that she stamps on and pulls at blanket so he is more affected but he is getting really annoyed with her!
