Unlocking a Siemens SF65

I've bought a couple of Siemens SF65s from Virgin but they are locked to Virgin. I know they can't be unlocked remotely but can anyone tell me - is there any way I can buy a cable and get the unlocking software to unlock it myself or will I have to go to a phone shop to get it done?

  • Absoloutely horrible things to unlock, they need a track on the circuit board cut before you can unlock them with a cable and software.
Best use a shop or I beleive Virgin will give yo a code if you put £15 worth of credit on your sim .. phone them and ask.

    It is £30. See paragraph 5 i. in VM's T&C's.

It won't cost anything, it's just that you've got to have credited £30 on your SIM in its lifetime. ;)

hmm, there is no need to cut any tracks on a siemens sf65, newer versions require testpoint unlock but after doing 100+ in the uk (all from virgin or o2) none have required testpoint. they are very easy to unlock with correct equipment.

not many people unlock them because although the phone is labelled siemens sf65 it is infact produced by philips, hence any good philips unlocker will unlock them, but there is no free version i'm afraid.

I use Thunderstorm to unlock them. For o2 you just need to read nck for virgin nck and spk.
Delok, redbox, gsmvolume and multi-box also unlocks them.

not sure what you mean by this though:

"Good phillips equipment is not a cable."

where did i say i only use a cable?, this is only possible by using pluto and downgrading the firmware with original siemens flasher.

I'd also be interested in unlocking my SF65....

I was able to unlock my SL65 via cable and software....however, the SF65 is slighty more difficult...
