Could you not alternate the cereal breakfasts with home made bread toasted on some mornings? Or a boiled egg and bead/toast soldiers. Also, i just learned to make dropped scones/syrup pancakes yesterday and they are so quick and easy to make, they also make a good breakfast altenative and you can add dried fruit, etc to the mix before you griddle them.

Really? Could you give more info please , I'd love to know more:)

...and then there are the people who come into the "jumping in without reading exactly what's been written" group.

Apologies for the (unintentionally slanderous) post - I was thinking about another company entirely, and actually know very little about said Foundation.

I hang my head in shame, and beg forgiveness for this thoughtless brain-fart.
Oh come on, don't be silly.

Please could those who've mentioned the website in error edit their posts, to prevent any potential legal action (I'll delete this one later ;) ).

Well, I'm quite happy to use sugar as I don't think we overdo the sugar in our house as a general rule. honey isn't really much better than sugar is it? It is a lot more expensive though;)
  • Oh, I thought honey was healthier than refined white sugar.....

    Researching.....
    Link
    Hope the link works...

This is only one of many sites that all say the same.... honey is superior for many reasons

What about Weetabix, Shredded Wheat or good ole' Corn Flakes if looking for a more 'basic' cereal?

I do agree that breakfast doesn't have to be about a bowl of cereal - though it IS a good way to get some milk down kids that are a bit reluctant to drink it alone.

My kids always loved eggy-bread (and still do aged 35, 30 & 29)- and when very skint I could get away with 1 egg between 2 kids by beating it with some milk, thus getting some milk into them anyway. Got the grandkids onto it now as well with the thinest smear of tomato ketchup or jam depending on whether it's a 'main' or a 'dessert'!
  • I'm ashamed to say my DS sometimes goes to school on a banana and a glass of milk.

    Has anyone mentioned smoothies?

Or, you might find that they eat porridge with chocolate drops in (I hardly dare mention it) or even, and this is healthy, honey.

Is yoghurt ok? How about fruit with yoghurt on it and drizzled with honey?
  • I have a bowl of semolina porridge sometimes. It's pretty good as a base because you add whatever you like to it like blueberries, or strawberries, or honey.
It's not easy having a good time. Even smiling makes my face ache.
