OP - IF you both have claim and conviction free driving records then I'm certain there will be at least half a dozen insurers desperate to insure your second car, in either yours or your wife's name, and will be prepared to duplicate/mirror the NCD you already have.

There is two options here OP:-

1, If you have NCB seperate to your company car then you could insure the car in your name with your NCB, however if this is the case your wife as a named driver still wont have NCB of her own and although some companies will accept NDNCB not all of them will.

2, Ask the insurer if they will do a 2nd car policy for IAP/IAS, normally in this case if the female is the main driver and owner/keeper then the company will match the NCB on her policy.
You never know how strong you are until being strong is the only choice you have.

I would hope that with 13 yrs NCB the OP protects it! IMO would be silly not to.
Also having to make a claim when you have full NCB but don't protect it wouldn't lose you everything, only a 2-3 years.

Thanks Shelley, I do have my NCD protected.:D

Do insurance companies acknowledge 13 years of claim free driving with 13 years no claims discount?

Not usually for ncb. They usually have 5 years as the max for ncb purposes.

If you make a claim (on a non protected policy), you would normally drop down two steps at renewal (ie. to 3years discount level, irrespective of how many years you had previously)
