I bought myself this but now it's arrived it's so lovely and such a lovely gift that I'm going to give it to my Mum to thank her for making me some curtains for my new home... I'm so torn but it would be a rather nice 'thank you' after all..
That's nice of you & I'm sure she'll love it....what's not to love after all!
Would you mind giving me the measurements of the hamper? I was planning on using mine for storage, but looking at them again think that they're smaller than I had imagined.
Is the projects book like a diary (as it's 2009) or just a notebook? Smythson stuff is fab, but a crazy price...although they are on quidco![edit: sadly no longer on there]
Thanks0 -
Hi shop-to drop, I got my Best of British today and I'm really pleased. The actual basket itself is lovely, very good quality. I also got a Tesco's hamper in the 75% sale this year and the difference in the baskets is very noticeable.0

24cm by 17cm by 40cm ... roughly
I hope so... I'm very torn indeedbut now it's most likely a present for her, I can't take everything off the top layer and look beneath as it won't be the same when she opens it
but I have had a scrabble about in the bottom to check that the champers is in there safe & sound
If you think it's a grand gesture on my part though, you should see the curtains... magnificent!
Sorry, the Projects book is in the Smythsons box which they have wrapped up in the usual black smythsons ribbon so I can't see, but I think it's a notebook rather than a diary. Smythson stuff is always lovely.0 -

Does anybody know how much this notebook would have been worth?
Here's one on eBay:

Hmm, it's difficult to know. It's leather bound so that'd be a bob or two (but aren't all smythson books leather bound??) - either way it'll be a lovely book. The 'Thank you' hamper was certainly good value at just over £50 delivered.
Of course now that they have stamped 2009 all over it there's a ticking time bomb on getting some clever ideas/thoughts/projects in it worthy of its fabulous exterior!0 -

Had a look online, but they dont seem to stock something called a project book. Depending on the size it could be anything between £20 something to £60 something, but I'm guessing it's most likely to be around £38.
Or it could be something else...0 -
There's a full list of the original hamper contents here:

I guess this might be useful if you're trying to work out if anything has been removed!
I'm very tempted by the Best of British one...0 -

That's interesting, it seems from that document that there was a 'Thank you' hamper for sale at £85, without the candle, chocs & two big bottles of champagne. It did have a small bottle though....0 -
Who ever paid £85 for that needs their head testing. I'm sure I could make one up for less than £10.:A
