Ten days ago I bank a £1,000 cheque in my account. The clerk must have keyed in £3,000 by mistake. I can see a little red fellow with pitchfork and little horns hovering over me and he advised me to close my account and go elsewhere. Now I am tempted to make a runner with the money. Years ago my Dad had a £10 credit entered on his account as £100. He rang the bank and told them the cashier had made a mistake and was very snootilly told that their cashiers don';t make those kinds of mistakes (assuming he had too little and not too much) and that the tills had balanced. In the end he spoke to someone else who thanked him and adjusted his account-but deep down I think honest or n
ot I'd have taken the snooty one's name and not bothered trying further to return it.
