Just coming to the end of a 12 month contract and intend to leave current provider and go to a PAYG setup.

My question is do I have to give written notice of quitting or is requesting the PAC code the same thing. I am with BT Mobile.
Never argue with an idiot. They bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

You could ask your current provider to convert your number to PAYG at the end of the contract. Then if you wanted to change networks you could request the PAC at anytime without worrying if it will port on the last day of your contract.

If you ask for the PAC then that will start the notice period. However, if the number is not ported within the 30 day notice period then your contract would continue to roll with the existing service provider.
