I buy GoCat in Costco. Its about £8 plus VAT for a 10kg sack and it lasts for ages.0

Do not waste your money on cheap cat litter as its no good and you end up throwing it away.
We use wood pellets.
it costs between 2.95 and 3.95 for 10kg but in all honest they bag will last ages.
the pellets go to sawdust when the cat has wee'd so all you have to do is sieve it and put it back in the tray.
It also has a nice pine fragrance and wont smell catty even if its been in the tray for a few days.
aslong as you sieve it so the dust comes out you will be fine.
less waste and kinder to the pocket in my opinionIf You See Someone Without A Smile......Give Them One Of Yours0 -

I didn't even know that they did Insurance and it's a good idea that so much of it goes to help them out.Halifax-Limit-£500-Balance-£0

Wood based or paper based litter is much less smelly than the cheaper clumping kind, and it lasts longer.
Injections shouldn't be needed every year, but flea treatment will probably need to be fairly regular, at least during summer months. I use Frontline (available from vets or online), which isn't cheap but it's very effective, unlike cheap flea treatments from supermarkets.
A scratching post is advisable so hopefully they'll use it instead of the furniture, but this and other toys can be homemade/ improvised. My cats love playing with lucky egg/ kinder surprise ovoid containers. The younger one also like chewing shoelaces, so we try try to keep our lace-up footwear away from her!0 -
don't forget the cost of catteries for when you are on hols (I've paid £5-£10 per day before), unless like me you have friendly neighbours who will feed them for you.
don't buy loads of toys, any cats i had were happy just to chase a bit of string, and my current cat plays with leaves in the garden (but only when she thinks i'm not watching )Wiggly:heartpulsFB0 -
Register with your local freecycle group. Quite often people are giving the scratching posts and cat beds away.
Look out for Tesco.com codes - only a couple of weeks ago many of us were ordering 10 boxes of Felix Pouches, normally in store at £3.14/box. The 10 boxes were costing under a tenner including delivery!
Absolute steal!0 -
The tesco cat litter is £3.95 for 10 L not 10 Kg. However having said that I also use woodlit. We buy 30L for £7 from our pet shop.0
