Buying engagement ring online?

Found a great vendor with exceptional service, honest and worked within my parameters and budget! I dealt with http://whiteflash.com but there are many other vendors who offer equally good service. http://goodoldgold.com, http://highperformancediamonds.com and http://jamesallen.com
One thing to note if you are comparing diamonds locally or locally to online try to make sure you are comparing apples to apples. Its all about the CUT quality of a diamond. A local diamond with a VG polish and VG symmetry will not be the same as an online diamond that has EX polish and EX symmetry. The EX will command a premium. Another factor that contributes to cut quality is Table %, Total Depth %, Crown angles and pavilion angles. The closer you get to what is termed and IDEAL cut diamond the more premium you will be paying.
Try to buy a diamond with either a GIA or AGS certificate. These are the 2 most respected labs within the industry.
Working out what your priorities are certainly helps. Whether its color, carat, clarity or cut quality. This is everyone's personal choice.
A good place to learn about diamonds is either here:http://goodoldgold.com/4Cs/ or here : http://www.whiteflash.com/diamonds_about/
I also lurk quite a bit on here: http://pricescope.com

I'm going t o assume that owenlove is spam! I would also recommend bluenile, I had fantastic service and a really stunning ring from them. I would suggest going round shops so you can decide on what size and style suits you best - sometimes what you like doesn't look right on your hand! My bluenile ring is valued at more than twice what we paid for it.0

We bought my ring from Dejoria, They do all as bluenile do by the looks of it. You choose everything about it and can even have a mock up made first to make sure you really like it! My ring is also worth nearly double what we paid. I love it so much, I know i'd have had to settle for something not half as pretty within our budget if we hadn't bought it online

.
i decided to go down to hatton gardens, and i bought a GORGEOUS solitaire engagement ring, platinum, 0.5 carat GVS2.
by this point in the day, i was so tired, restless and pretty peed off wit some on the shops i had went into, and recieve not much help!!
and then i found my diamond
I would highly recomment JP DIAMONDS in hatton gardens.
really helpful,patient and good advice.
worth taking a look at their website which is quite good aswell.
There are some great shops in hatton gardens, but alot are way over priced. jp diamonds was well in my budget.
Have a look for their website, type JP DIAMONDS in google, they should come up. or just pop in there hatton gardens shop.
hope ive helped you,

Hello,
My sister in law just received her engagement ring my brother bought at 77Diamonds - she loves it to bits! My brother said he did a lot of prep and research before he made a decision and 77Diamonds actually beat every other shop with quality of advice, patience (he wasn't sure what he and she wants) and price. They make only bespoke rings, so you have to have wait at least 2 weeks for them to make it, but it's good if you have an eye on something they don't offer on their website, so just send them a photo and they will make it for you!
I believe they don't have a shop, only a showroom in W1.
Good luck with your engagement ring shopping!

Got my OH's from 365diamond.com, was 100% happy with them and she loved the ring.0

My friend recently proposed to his girlfriend (now fianc!!) with the most gorgeous ring which he bought online. I think you can get a far bigger and better range online and often you can get your own ideas incorporated into the ring design as it is made from scratch. My friend used a company called DiamondGeezer.com and had no problems at all and now they’re getting a great deal on their wedding rings as well.0

My fiance got my engagement ring online and I would whole heartedly advise everyone to go down this route if you are looking to purchase a good quality diamond. High street jewellers are completely clueless when it comes to diamonds and most of them will not even know what a certified diamond is, nevermind be able to sell you one.
The best advice I can give you is to research, research, research. By learning about diamonds, you will learn what makes for a sparkler that will outshine any diamond you can buy from your average jeweller.
I would recommend you try different styles of rings on at local jewellers to get an idea of what you like because sometimes rings can look totally different when you're actually wearing them.
Ultimately though, by buying online you will pay a lot less for a much higher quality stone. Don't be fooled by the jewellers in hatton gardens and b'ham jewellery quarter. We went to both for an idea of prices and they were at least 30%-40% more expensive than online (on average).
I recommend a site called pricescope (go on the forums) if you want to learn more about diamonds. You can post a link up to the diamond you are looking at and the experts will let you know whether it's a good choice. For a quick bit of advice though, you want one with a certificate from GIA or AGS with excellent cut quality (this is what determines the sparkle of a diamond). Colour and clarity depends on your budget but most online retailers will check the stone out for you to make sure it is eye clean if you can't afford too high a clarity level.
Also, ALWAYS make sure the site has a no quibble returns policy. You want to make sure you can send it back if you don't like the way it looks when it arrives.
Have fun... it's a bit of a minefield once you start learning about diamonds but in the end, you'll get yourself a very beautiful stone and it will all be worth it!
P.S. Avoid ANY online retailer that isn't upfront with you and isn't willing to send you copies of the diamond certificates or find out extra details for you. They should do this as a matter of course so don't let them act like they are doing you a favour by providing you with the info. Buying a diamond is a huge purchase and a very important one. From my experience, diamondgeezer.com was really bad for that and it put us right off. Don't be pushed into a decision and don't rush into this. She will after all be wearing it for the rest of her life.0 -
Yes - mine came from edenly.com and I am extremely happy with it. They allow you to order a free ring sizer beforehand so that you know what the best size for you is. Their returns policy also seems reasonable (even though of course I didn't have to use it). Hope you find something that's good for you

We used Blue Nile. Never ordered from them before but they were highly recommended on one of the forums on here (this was over 2 years ago). Excellent choice and great service. Just be a little careful on the sizing. I made the mistake of going to a high street jeweller for the sizing before we ordered and when the ring arrived it was big. We should have used their sizing guide but I just assumed if you'd had the sizing done in a shop it would be universal! doh! good luck with your search.0
