    I wish theyd update that.

Avira ~ uses LESS resources. It doesnt matter that it doesnt scan emails. You dont even need to register when you first get it, never mind re-reregister

    AVG ~ cr*p ;)

  • Read the suggestions to the original post with interest. Recently acquired Toshiba via T-Mobile. From reading this and other posts a strong groundswell of opinion for both Avira and Firefox, both of which I'm now using. Could someone kindly explain the need for extra security as per this list, as well as suggesting which versions to use (plus, if poss, links). Many many thanks!

    PC TOOLS firewall
    AVIRA or AVAST anti virus
    MALWAREBYTES
    SPYBOT
    SUPER ANTI SPYWARE
    FIREFOX with the NOSCRIPT plugin
  • hmmm... I appeared to have killed this thread stone dead. I'm new to this forum. Did I ask too much or maybe what I was asking wasn't clear? Replies to this and/or the original post greatly appreciated!

  • Thanks ever so much, guys.

  • After following all your suggestions, zebra and alien, the only one I've had problems with is the NoScript. It renders most sites I open either partially or almost completely inoperable, unless, of course, I make that site an exception. I found I was constantly having to 'exceptionise' sites, which tends to work against the convenience of being able to move freely round the internet. Right now I've got it switched off. I don't know if you guys or anyone else would like to comment?

Yes you do need to do that. But once a sites 'unlocked' it stays unlocked (So long as you put allow and not TEMP allow)
You cant visit THAT many webpages surely?

Use Sandboxie, or some similar product and browse inside that, then you don't need to worry about script blocking and most of the other stuff.
Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!
