stansted security 5.45am

As someone else mentioned, Stansted has been fairly quiet recently. I'd leave an hour (or less) if checking in online, but if going to the desk, maybe leave a little more.0

TBH you could do it if you checked in an hour before. I have flown out of stanstead twice in the last 3 months and found it to be fairly quick. Although if I wanted to make sure I actaully GOT ON the flight I would get there no less than 90 mins before, especially if I had bags to check in. The only problems in Stanstead is the train to the plane and if you have to get your hand luggage searched at security, you can wait there for 10 mins if there is a back log.0

I fly out of Stansted all the time (it's the only airport offering a consistent flight to my city, unfortunately).
At 6am, you shouldn't have too much problems - the real problems with Stansted will be earlier in the morning when all the people that sleep in the airport go through security. By 6, the queues should be less - as many flights depart in that hour, people will have cleared security long before.
As you're staying in the Radisson, if you are checking in luggage, then get there a bit earlier. 5:15 should be more than enough time - easyjet check-in never looks that busy to me, anyway.
If you aren't checking luggage in and can check-in online, then arriving at security at 5:45 should be more than safe. Stansted security queues are no longer than 15 minutes these days - except possibly in the aforementioned 'sleeper' rush.
As for the transit train - don't listen to some of the rubbish posted on here. The trains are frequent, and total time from security to your gate should be no more than 15 minutes unless something exceptional has happened. In any event, you should be at the gate no later than 20 minutes before departure - there's really no need to arrive earlier as they won't start boarding the flight until 15 minutes before.
Any questions, feel free to ask. I've seen enough of Stansted to last a lifetime! From Poland...with love.
They are (they're) sitting on the floor.
Their books are lying on the floor.
The books are sitting just there on the floor.0 -
Ooh how nice, for once it's travellers from the regions who get an easy ride! I don't recall ever having to wait more than five or ten minutes in the security queue at Liverpool!0

we flew through stanstead in december
was a sunday morn and it took for ever to go through security!!
i;d rather sit and wait airside for an extra 30mins rather than have to rush through and miss my flight'Children are not things to be moulded, but are people to be unfolded'0 -
One thing to note : Stansted airside is a horrible place. The Ryanair terminal is beyond functionless, and airside is generally overcrowded and at capacity, especially in the morning. From Poland...with love.

Precisely why we need to expand Stansted instead of coming up with stupid ideas about demolishing more housing estates in west London. :cool:0
