I ported my VM number to SIPGATE with no hassle, it cost me a one off fee of £20 after filling in two forms.
Put request in on the 26/6/2010, Moved house and the VM account was terminated on 5/7/2010 (the date I requested the transfer to occur), number activated on SIPGATE on 14/7/2010.
The number was originally with BT landline, we then moved house to cabled area and ported number to VM (same 'exchange'). We then moved into a non-cabled area which was on a different exchange, so decided to port the number to SIPGATE to keep the existing number active.
Be aware I started getting junk calls on both numbers (landline + voip) following the move, and have re-registered with TPS to stop the calls.
I presume voip phones are common place with MSE folk? I use a combination of SIPGATE, VOIPCHEAP, FREESPEECH and Virgin at weekends. I reckon it saves me £200 a year on call charges, but then VM rates are extortionate!
