"In one case, a multi-national firm was cheated out of £80,000 when a £2 food-product voucher emailed to a mailing list was redeemed 50,000 times - despite only 8,000 being printed off.
More than 90 per cent were redeemed through one supermarket chain, with 10,000 claimed through one of its stores."
10,000 through ONE of its [Tesco] stores when the manufacturer assumed only 8000 being printed ......and some folks wonder why we don't encourage multi-prints
And in the middle of it all is an advert...........
"Money saving tips - Discount vouchers
Find out all the latest deals, discount vouchers and codes..."
It's nice to be nice .....

"The brands have asked to remain anonymous amid fears supermarkets will remove them from shelves. "
They realise that the supermarkets will continue doing what they do, and so the manufacturer will find more secure ways of issuing coupons.
It has to be good news for couponnet, and bad news for coupon-touts.
I may have to go back to using a colour printer soon though!!It's nice to be nice .....

I don't really see this as a nail in the coffin for coupons...I see it more as a wake up call for manufacturers to control their marketing spend.

Sadly even that may not help as shown by the airwick 'doctored' £6 moc which was originally via c'net.... Manufacturers need to sort out eBay then anything like that would at least be more localised and thus slightly more traceable :p Have a good [STRIKE]Tesc[/STRIKE][STRIKE]Asd[/STRIKE]WHO? day - Err....I still wish Mozzies had a better website even though they are now on MyS!
:p :rotfl:;)

wow thats a lot of money lost, especially these days with the credit crunch and shops going bust all over the place. Tesco is too blame i guess, no other shops take them do they, so prob tesco will stop taking coupons for anything0 -

Tesco are prob well aware of this but allow it to continue as it generates revenue for them, it's the manufacturers that lose out, Tesco just block the coupon they cannot redeem, glavya, mitchum, mail book coupon etc, those stores that take a big hit, the manager brings in their descretionary policy of no internet, only 10% or only 5 coupons, so I doubt much will change, just usual Daily Mail scaremongering....0 -

I am the original OP and prior to posting I printed some and tried them @ sainsburys - they were accepted no problem, the only thing is that they are valued @ zero and the price each store charges has to be typed in (so its useful to have this ready if the SA asks).
HTH.
