    Hiya

So this is the chatty thread and coupon thread back into one yep :)

Anyway, i just wanted to ask about Sainsburys. Do they take coupons even if i don't buy the product?. It's just because i have lots of coupons, well i did, but i threw most away as my local Asda stopped taking coupons, and my Tesco doesn't take them either. The only other nearest shops i have are Somerfield, and Sainsburys, i know somerfield dont take coupons, so does anyone know about sainsburys please? :)

    Thanks :)

Oh, i got a 30p off mccain oven chips on thursday, so watch out for the email :)

It's a bit heavy on ink, so you may not want to bother with this one.

I thought this might be useful, with the coupons that use alot of ink, I wait until my cartridge has nearly run out and needs replacing. If I get queried about the funny colour at the till I just just say that my ink was running out, and they're usually fine with it commenting that at least they can see its not a photocopy. How useful this I don't know, but if it makes a difference it even better.

Sorry, Sainsburys definitely don't allow coupons without the customer buying the product.

Most of their cashiers are aware of this fact although the tills will scan any coupons. So you may get away with one if buying a similar product or with a new cashier (they would get the money back anyway so no skin off Sainsbug's nose...). But usually they scowl & hand your coupon back!

If I were you I would be taking into your local Tesco, a copy of Tesco policy wording (copied & pasted to a word document from here if you like, there's no shame in being on MSE). Nothing to lose in asking at the CS desk why your coupons were refused as you've had the correct policy confirmed by Dundee (just say you have phoned them and that they have confirmed the policy as the same as the wording you have printed).

Never ask 'hello could I just ask what your coupon policy is please?' No chance of a result!

The first CS person you speak to may ignore your clear statement of the policy and say 'you have to buy the product' but if so be bold and ask for them to please check with the Till Manager as you've been told otherwise. Then watch them squabble, ask for the Duty Manager etc...etc...staying polite & calm.

All you need is one staff member to see your point and for them to follow it up (or for you to follow it up afterwards with a letter to the Store manager - ask for his name). That's how I got my nearest Tesco to allow mocs - and they were absolutely horrible to me before that because they didn't know the policy.

There are a handful of stores which have made a Management decision to allow no coupons, I know that. IMHO most stores do not fall into this category and can be changed...good luck.

I don't see the problem really. The 1st post contains all the current coupons so if that's all you want to see then you have no need to read the rest of the thread
