As per my knowledge Purina pro plan can be used in Tesco....and they do stock it.

I used mine and it went through fine...

I've looked for it in two of the biggest T's I've ever seen and I couldn't find it!

No supermarkets are on their 'official' stockists

My local garden centre pet shop stocks it!

As I said just because it scans doesn't mean YOUR store stocks it and I believe each store reclaims its own coupons so if they don't stock it how can they claim they sold it?
:p:p Have a good [STRIKE]Tesc[/STRIKE][STRIKE]Asd[/STRIKE]WHO? day - Err....I still wish Mozzies had a better website even though they are now on MyS! :p:p :rotfl:;)

Just had a tesco express opened near me, so before it opened e mailed Tesco asking what their coupon policy would be and got the policy on the first page. The 1st day they opened, went in and showed manager e mail and asked her if she would be accepting them like it said and she said yes. Ever since, get told will not accept cos haven't bought stuff, showed e mail and they accept but manager now says will have a word with head office. Went in tonight and Team Leader started being funny, so thought oh oh, might not be able to use soon, so gave him more than was going to (about 12 totalling about £5 off £7.50 spend). He asked for the address of where I wrote to to check thing and also going to check with his manager, so gave him a my copies of the e mails (didn't think owt wrong with this at the time, I'm sure you'll tell me if you lot do :rotfl: ) he then stapled my coupons to it and said he was going to have a word with the manager tomorrow. I said, I really don't understand why some shops have a problem with them, cos as far as I was aware they get the money back and a handling fee and sell goods. What exprience have others had with Tesco Express?
Be thankful for what you have because it could all be taken away tomorrow.;)

AFAIK only Metros and Expresses claim some of their own coupons direct - and I think that is only newspaper and magazine mocs (which I know they have to hand to their newspaper supplier). That's why some small stores got stung in 2007 when 'magazine week' saw them accepting a lot of magazine mocs which they couldn't redeem as they didn't sell the titles. Some small stores still don't take any magazine mocs now because of that fiasco.

However, from talking to a friendly Till manager in a Superstore and a chatty Cash-Office employee in the queue behind me recently in another large Tesco, I know (at least in my area) that larger stores don't reclaim their own coupons. Not even the newspaper & magazine ones (I asked specifically as I knew they were an issue for smaller stores).

Both staff members told me they send all their coupons off together (unsorted) to a coupon redemption centre and that all the larger Tesco stores locally send theirs off to the same place. They don't have to account for having sold the products, they just tally the total amount which appears separately on their store income I believe.

That's not to say that some unacceptable mocs don't bounce back unpaid later (they do) but that would be for other reasons such as being a store-specific moc for another shop, out of date or damaged/copied. So the redemption centre knows which store has sent them which coupons but they don't know exactly what each store stocks so no coupons are sent back for that reason (that info was straight from the cash office employee).

I think you are doing the right thing. I have shown my email & copy of the policy in an Express before - why not? There's no reason a customer shouldn't know a store policy, it's nothing to have to hide.

I have had coupon success in a local Express but I don't bother to go there as a rule. I only succeeded after showing the Manager the policy wording & he told the cashier to try the mocs as the 'till would beep if they weren't OK'(!!) Luckily for him I'm an honest coupon-user and wasn't trying to offload some out-of-date rubbish!

I don't go there now as I don't need the hassle of having to call for a Manager every time TBH in a tiny shop that only stocks a minimum of products at higher prices than larger Tesco stores. Also I am always even more careful than usual when I am in Metro and Express stores, not to use any moc which they may not be able to redeem (which means I can't use most magazine mocs there - see my post above in reply to m4rtin). So I don't bother to go there.

Good luck though BLUEWKD. See it through and see what they say, it's good to raise the issue so soon after they have opened and hopefully they will allow some mocs in the future once they find out the true policy.

If you get the go-ahead, just avoid newspaper & magazine mocs for titles they don't stock as they will soon stop allowing mocs if they get their fingers burnt by their magazine supplier.

Thanks for your comments coupon-mad. I have found out that Tesco Express are quite exspensive on a lot of stuff. Unfortunately a big Tesco is 20 miles away, which is why I have been able to get so many coupons at the moment, especially the large amount ones, cos I aven't been to Tesco for ages. What I have used mine mainly for is the cheap bread and milk and meat, which is of great quality and good to freeze (even though limited quantity and choice). Now have a freezer filling up with mince and chicken legs!! Anyway, case of making the most whilst it last and if it ends then at least I had some fun and excitement :j ( you regular couponers will know about that feeling you get in the stomach when you reach for your coupons and present them and wait for the reaction from cashier   :rotfl: ) I too am an honest couponer and do not use for cigs or try to pass off more than one of each, which I explained.

I go to my local express store everyday as they will take coupons but if I have 12 coupons I must buy 12 items. That's fine as I have stocked up on dog treats, tissues, and now stocking up on Halloween candy (it has a long date on it so it will still be good to give out on Halloween). I can still manage to get my shopping for a few pence. Yesterday I have an 8pk of beer and candy for 2p!!

  • :T Hi Tescoisace,
Thanks for the message! Sorry about the old trout jibe, and yes they are miserable sour faced gits! They know who they are too! I avoid them like the plague. There is one lady and her eyes follow me all around the store, it is nerv racking enough when you get to the till without having to put up with them. I rather stick pins in my eyes than attempt the attitude at her till.

You are right about "Mad" he is just mad! I love his fun and sense of humour.:D

I havto say though my fiance is feeling rather negleted since I have been coming on here. He says I spend too much time looking for coupons, especially when there is ironing to do!

  • Just thought i'd mention me and my mum were in t's yesterday when we found a load of organic swedes reduced to between 17p-25p each. Needless to say we bought a load and wapped one 30p organic coupon through per item from the free magazine and got paid to take them away lol!!! It pays to carry spare vouchers around with you, which reminds me we need to replace the organic vouchers in our bags lol!!!!
    Happy shopping all xxx
