I recently had to return an item to Tescos, bought with coupons.

I had the receipt but they refused a refund, so I said I would accept a giftcard and use later. This was also refused. They would only exchange for a similar item.

Is this correct policy? Surely if they accept coupons as cash, they should refund as cash? Or is that asking too much?

I had to return a couple of items after Xmas due to them being faulty but as I had bought them with coupons I didnt take the receipt and was told to look around the shop and pick up items to the value. This wasnt really a problem as I can always find something to purchase in Tesco.

If you think about it, they would have every Tom, !!!!!! and Harry(no offence to anyone with these names mind)buying items with coupons(I have sudden visions of the sale of Plasma t.v's sky rocketing now!) and going back in for the cash refund, I think they are quite justified in doing this, as it would be open to abuse on a massive scale....but in a way you could aways ask to be refunded in the tender you had origionally paid in.
