Yes Coupon-mad please take note :rotfl: :rotfl:

    MM dashes for the exit.......

Shurrup MM5 I'm not that scary!

Anyhoo I didn't check the magazine aisle in the store I used The Grocer coupon in, because I was in an Extra and I have a vague recollection of seeing The Grocer in there last year, when Welsh Dragon mentioned it in a post.

But I will check before using my last one up tomorrow, I like to set a good example!

The fact it scans shows that Tesco do stock it somewhere so I wasn't really that concerned, if it's stocked by Tesco 'somewhere' then it's a safe bet that it will be in an Extra.

The Grocer is mainly aimed at people who work in retail AFAIK but it's not that obscure. It is stocked just like other weird & wonderful titles we might never give a second thought to, in newsagents and in large Superstores.

FWIW I wouldn't have used that coupon in a smaller store though, as I know smaller stores only stock a minimal range of magazines. In the nearest Metro to me and COUPON GIRL they are very hot on refusing magazine coupons as they struggle to claim coupon redemption money back from their supplier if they don't stock the named title in there (hardly surprising!).

Welcome first time poster Pudfish.. Yes you are in the right place.
    to add to:-

    and

What I would do is check the understanding of the policy with the manager. (along the lines of...my friend works in a Tesco and she told me that they abide by the National Policy, which is to take one of EACH different coupon, as long as Tesco stocks the product and that the coupon is in date, she says that some store managers don't take them but they lose a lot of profit, can you clarify what your store's policy is please)

The above two posts are completely correct IF the manager has imposed that ruling (at his discretion).However,..... and this is the common bit:D..... it might just be the SA's (Sales Assistant's) interpretation, or the till supervisor's interpretation of a memo.

thank you so much for this advice Veggiecar, really appreciate it, your suggestion is great, I will try it tomorrow, wish me luck, I so love using the coupons and really need to get back into husband's good books because while I am trying really hard to save money, I just got a £60 speeding fine, Ouch!

Good luck!:j If I may add a little more advice if you need it?

Be aware that 'the manager' you first get at the CS desk will be whoever is Duty Manager that day. It could well be someone from a specific Dept where they would not be expected to have any idea of the correct policy.

Don't be afraid to state what you know. Don't 'ask what their coupon policy is' - that just invites a negative or made-up response, cue you just saying 'oh thanks anyway' and sloping off thinking oh well that's it then.

Word your query as Veggiecar stated earlier and be confident that what you know from here on the good old internet is the correct National Policy - and it's already in the public domain so you are entitled to know it as a Tesco customer. This could be the moment you help your local Tesco to learn the policy for the first time if you play it right.

If the Duty Manager speaks a load of rubbish like 'oh I am pretty sure you have to buy the right product love' then politely restate what you know, say summat like 'Oh, well in fact I know that's not the case, although you would think so wouldn't you? I know the policy and was just hoping to avoid embarrassment at the checkout.'

Or words to that effect. You may be lucky and get a yes straight away (ha ha!). If not, then ask to get it referred up the line and/or ask for a Till Manager's opinion - they should have come across this before even if the Duty Manager hasn't. You are unlikely to get the Store Manager down, as in most stores they pass the buck.

I did all of this last year in my local and they ended up arguing among themselves at first! So I still ended up following it with a letter to the Store Manager, which did the trick and they know the policy now. I felt that even if I had ended up being told a definite 30% max or whatever, at least I would know that the decision came from the Store Manager, which was better than the pot luck I was taking each day and the grief I was getting from some staff.

My B&W are accepted no problem. I have pointed out in the past that they all have unique ID's which shows that they are not copies. I pay with my club card (for points) and tell them that if the cash office has a problem to contact me, since they have all my address details.
With most all-in-one printers or a scanner with a colour printer it would be just as easy to "photocopy" in colour as it would in B&W.
Someone posted on here some time ago an email from CS specifically stating B&W was ok
I guess it comes down to the fact that every store manager has his/her own coupon policy based on how they choose to interpret head office policies, so go to the store that takes everything you have to offer, I have stopped going to the local Extra as they have now imposed this 'coupon with the tick' only rule .My smaller local Tesco suits me fine and will get my regular custom.I am also a Mystery Shopper and do have to visit all the Tesco stores in my area( and sometimes a little further afield), most are very accommadating with coupons and will take absolutely every coupon I have on me( internet or otherwise) but some will only take a percentage of my shopping .
