Being a newbie to all this I took my coupons into my local Tesco today. I had some cut out of newspapers and a few printed off the manufacturers websites. The lady behind the till told me she could only take one coupon and no photocopied ones. I told her that they weren't photocopies but printed off the websites and she would still only take one unless I had bought the items shown on the vouchers. Would it have been worth pushing for them to be taken as shown in the tesco "rules" above or doing as I did and meekly putting them back into my bag. Morrisons also told me they don't take vouchers unless you had bought the item.

  • there is a new policy just received at Ts and some staff are reading it as one branded coupon per shop - even if you buy 20 items they will only let you use one coupon. It is the way it is worded and it really means as was always the case one type of branded coupon per shop ( if you dont buy the product) so you can use say 5 different coupons in one shop. If its a large shop i would forget the items and walk away and then ring later for a manager not c services and ask them to explain the policy. If its a small shop i tell them that yesterday they nmanager rang cs head office and they confirmed that one of each type of coupon is acceptable.
Overall though as one s assistant said to me the other day" they make it up as they go along - whatever suits them and what they can be bothered putting through. Tey dont really know the proper rules" talking about other asistants.
Best to find the good ones and stick with them in the large shops.

  • My Tesco has stopped accepting coupons unless you have bought the product. I talked to one of the friendly cashiers who said it was because some people have been using photocopies.

That is the problem in this country, nobody thinks long term anymore for anything. The morons would rather use £10 of fakes today and get the coupon policy stopped, than redeem £100s of real coupons over a year.

Hear, Hear, I too hate shopping at T. Only went there bcos of coupons - everything are very expensive there. Asda/sainsbury/somerfield/farmfood are selling at least 20-30% cheaper than them on the same branded products.

eg: Heinz soup Tesco 87p a can & other supermarket are selling for 59p can.

    other products on offer:-
Andrex nearly £5.00 (9 rolls) yet somerfield are selling at £6.00 for 2 packs.

    Ribena £1.24 a bottle @ sainsbury & T full price £2.70!
12 walker crisps bogof @ sainsbury.

I have to admit some items are on offer fm other supermarket. Even home bargain colgate toothbrush is only 39p each T selling at £1.00!!!! & Robinson orange juice 2L @ £1.00 T selling @ £2.00!

I can't wait for T to stop taking coupon(s) unless customer buy the product(s) so that I can stop going to T even though T is only 1/2 mile from my work office.

I understand your points and where you are comin from but maybe rather than wish Tesco's would change their policy to the same as the likes of Asda and leave some people struggling to survive maybe you should just stop shopping there anyway and be happier!!!!

My Tesco has interpreted it to mean one coupon per shop for the last few months. Originally, i stoped shopping there, and still don't spend much there now.

But instead of buying £40 of shopping and using about £4 of coupons, i now only go with the big coupons, and spend £3-4 at a time.

Eg. today i took a £2 coupon in and spent £4, The assistant said i could only use one, as it was now 10% of shop maximum. Ok i said, knowing i had got about 50% off my shopping.

When they accepted more coupons they did much better out of me. But as with everything, there are morons who abuse it and spoil it.

I have a load of £2 coupons, so i will just repeat todays shop until it comes to an end.
