Can you recommend any good reading to understand how to invest in oil/bonds/commodities?

To understand the basics of the commodity markets:
    "Hot Commodities", Jim Rogers

ETF Securities do a range of investments that have exposure to commodity markets:

There's also an open-ended, diversified fund:

There's lot of bond funds available via Hargreaves Lansdown too. But it's anything inflation/indexed-linked you'll want to be looking at for the context of this thread.

Hold tight for 18-24 months, then buy loads of property at rock bottom prices then watch the value go up and up and up and......... then sell a few!

Worried about inflation killing my savings

Personally, I'm far more worried about deflation eroding the value of my assets....

But then again that's just me.....always looking on the bright side :rotfl:

I'm very serious. The old saying "There's no pockets in a shroud" is one I believe.

Lol, Thanks guys, I am worried about the inflation to come in a couple of years. The banks interest rate is so abysmal that it may not keep track with inflation. I will check out the recommended cheers.

I may also take a toke of Lilac_lady's pipe!

You mean my peace pipe? :D

I heard a variation of that the other day.'There's no pockets in your last pair of pants.'It made me chuckle anyway.

My own personal view is that inflation will be a very real concern about 2 yrs out, so looking into the best means of protection now would be prudent, as if you do it via the market, the markets will start to anticipate it at any signs of a recovery or even stabilization of the current crisis.

Do you fancy a job as chancellor :) or maybe the B.O.E.

    This is a lie.

I have had mine made as part of my funeral planning and it definitely has pockets. Very big ones. My executors are charged with the task of converting all my wealth to cash (no cheques!) to fill those pockets.

    Then I'll be cremated.

    The Inflation Mega-Trend Ebook Download

The worlds economies swim in an ocean of inflation that is punctuated by occasional ripples of deflation which is illustrated by the perpetual upward curve of general prices as measured by the Consumer Price Index (CPI). Inflation in the long-run impacts on virtually all commodities and asset prices. The Inflation Mega-Trend ebook contains in-depth analysis for the aim of generating accurate forecast trends for Inflation, Interest rates and the Economy for 2010 and beyond, the implications of which have been further applied towards generating key financial market and investment trend projections

The primary purpose for generating the analysis and investment conclusions contained within this ebook is to arrive at as accurate as possible conclusions for the target of enabling me to make definitive and conclusive long-term investment decisions for the management of my own investment portfolio. Analysis which I choose to freely share in an easily accessible and distributable pdf format.
