Just bought one. Configured in 10 mins (3 wired and 2 wireless pc's plus nintendo ds and psp. Not to mention xbox 360 both for live and acting as media extender)
Everything worked beautifully first time with no configuration needed other than setting up the security- I was delighted, I've had nothing but trouble lately from my old one.
  • bought the netgear one from PCworld last week and it's going back - no way this thing will work anything like 108 on the wireless side, can't even get it to work as fast as my inbuilt Intel 54g when I'm only a matter of feet away from the receiver. Trust me on this one, I'm no novice with setting up wireless routers and this one sucks! Other stange behaviour seen was that sometimes when changing the security settings on the router the blasted thing would reset itself to the factory defaults!

As you are no stranger to wireless then you must be aware that the different channels are affected differently depending on the physical location (wall types, room layouts etc) and the nature of the interference sources. The 108Mb is achieved by bonding 2 channels together and unfortunately you can't choose the channels. So if one or both of the channels don't behave well in your case there isn't much you can do.

You must also be aware that you lose 50% of the theoretical bandwidth to ACK packets.....

i cant even set mine up, always me, might have something to do with me being a complete beginner but I set up the modem and can connec to it from my laptop but it will not connect to the inernet, the setttings look all ok when you go into them, not sure where to go for help.

I have the 11.g version and it's all packaged up and ready for return to Amazon. Never have I come across a more unreliable device. It drops packets; it loses wireless connectivity intermittently; the drivers for the USB adapter are appallingly bad. I will be returning this and most likely opting for a LinkSys with which I have had much better results previously.
  • Stick with the linksys products, the output strength seems better. I've tried Belkin & Netgear and thi'd say the Netgear was the worst, Belkin worked and I was happy with it, but when I tried the linksys the reception was amazing in comparison.

    That's my view anyway

It just so happens that I'm returning mine to BT whom I bought it from last year. I've only just started using the wireless side of it so it's taken me this long to find out that the wireless side this thing is very poor indeed. In general it's very unlikely you'll get 108MB transfer mode and it has a habit of dropping connections.

Have a look at Netgear's own support forum - there are 36 pages of people complaining about dropped connections....
