Netgear wireless router PC World offer (merged)

A decent offer at PC World for a wireless ADSl 2+ router 108 Mbps wireless router with a USB wireless adaptor in the bundle to connect up another PC wirelessly.

# Netgear DG834GT and WG111T
# 108Mbps Super G Modem Router&USB Adaptr
# ADSL Connection for BT Phone Lines
# 10X Faster than the Standard 802.11b,
# 4X the Range the Standard 802.11b
# Include Stateful Packet Inspection (SPI)
# Include Denial of Service Security (DoS)
# Ultra-fast 10/100 switched LAN ports
# High level WPA-PSK encryption
# Easy Setup via Wizard Install Assistant

Take a look at the Netgear router link

but watch out, they had about 40 of the old box (same bundle but only 56 Mbps) with the routers and the new box on offer (108Mbps) on a shelf end near the hard drives. Check the front top right corner of the box says 108 not 56. They are a bit confused with the code number - the page says DG834GT (as does the front of the box I bought) but the printed collect at store order said DGB111GT.

Also be aware PC World will not refund or exchange unless you get an authorisation from the manufacturer that the product is faulty - they have a sign saying this at any rate, so you'd at the least get some hassle I expect.

The DG834GT has had good reviews, though there are newer MIMO routers with longer wireless range starting to come to market now like the DG834PN which is around £80 and is replacing the DG834GT.....

They don't refund etc cos people buy the wrong ones all the time - nobody on the planet seems to be able to work out the difference between DSL and ADSL

Used to have all kinds of fun with this at the place i used to work.

This must be a new policy because I purchased one of their Linksys ADSL routers when they were on offer by mistake (I have NTL) and subsequently took it back for a refund saying I'd got the wrong type. The nice member of staff even offered to find the correct product for me. Besides, I'm sure they can't refuse to offer you a refund anyway? Or perhaps this is in response to the previous offer...

    Great Price !!!

Ive been using one of these router for the last 8months but with a PCI card and had no problems.
  • Winner ! Thanks - I have just been to pick one of these up.

Don't forget, even though its a great price, it is cheaper still if you manage to find one of the PC World magazines as it has a 10% off wireless networking voucher !! Brings it down to £58.49.

    Not true!!
A friend of mine bought a Linksys router the other day, decided he didn't want it and took it back for a full refund. No questions asked! (And the box was already opened when purchased)
I have the exact router here (DG834GT) and it's an excellent bit of kit (Was previously using a Linksys WAG54G here and had endless problems with it to the point Linksys replaced it under warranty,I received a WAG354G as a replacement, sold it and bought the Netgear)

    :)

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
I can concur about the model numbers as well being confused ... they have this unit in Dixons in Liverpool 'off the shelf' and the ticket says DGB111GT but the box says DG834GT. However, there is a sticker over the barcode on the box with DGB111GT so you can check ...

I went to the checkout expecting this to be a mistake (ie filling the shelf up with something else), and as I was waiting, noticed a pristine returned item for £55 ! Even better ... checked it first mind.

The service in the shop though was absolutely s*i*e .... nice one dicko's !!

The new ticket code is for the bundle i.e. DG834GT wireless modem router PLUS the WG111T USB wireless adapter.

Take it back for a refund. Not suitable for purpose. Must refund.
