Important Improvements To Your Energy Account
As part of our ongoing commitment to the environment we want to reduce the amount of paper we use. We have also listened to our customers who tell us they don't like estimated bills.
So from now on we will send you a statement every six months when we expect to call and read your meter.
This means we will no longer send you an estimated statement in between times.
In future when we send you a statement we will also check your payments and let you know if you are paying too much or too little.
Your next statement will therefore be in 6 months time.

It's six monthly billing for customers who are paying by direct debit, I think a few other companies do this.
  • I dno't understand why that is a con? As long as you call regularly with meter readings, then there shouldn't be a problem with your bill.

Why is halving the cost of sending out paper bills a con? Are you incapable of taking a look at your meters and checking your useage?

Once a month take a note of your readings. (1 minute). Pop them in a spreadsheet. (30 seconds).

If you don't have a spreadsheet, use a calculator (45 seconds).

What is the advantage of a quarterly paper bill?

Here's another piece of fud for all you chicken-lickens: my Ebico bill was in monochrome! Ebico are going bust - they can no longer afford to pay for green and yellow ink!

Telephone in your meter readings every 3 months to 0800 220 995 the automated meterline, this generates a bill !

No it doesn't, if the customer doesn't want six monthly billing they need to speak to an advisor.

I`m with SSE through Ebico and I pay by DD AFTER the 3 month bill arrives.
So the money sits in my bank account for about 14 weeks instead of theirs.

Thanks for those who have commented:-
My point is that when the rates are changed, invariably in between meter readings, the gas company calculations always favour the supplier. The longer the time in between readings the larger the difference in my experience.

Yes I do monitor my readings monthly and plot on a spreadsheet, hence why I have this view, unless someone differs!
