Since deciding to deal with our debt, and having precious little money coming in through the door at the moment, I find I am scrapping for every penny! Today I've emailed Tesco online as they missed a pack of soft cheese from my delivery it was only 44p :rotfl: but I thought that's 44p which should be mine and I'll have to go and get some more so it will cost me again. Is this reaaaallly sad or does anyone else find themselves doing similar???

Don't worry ITR (I should copy your name!) I feel exactly like you. I've been a bit silly this month and in my money saving effort I've gone 4 pounds over my overdraft limit so i'm going to get charged 60 quid next month which is a real shi**er! But hey ho we live and learn don't we (but it doesn't help when a stoooooooopid supermarket takes two weeks to debit the four pounds which put me over the limit in the first place and I did forget about it!!)
It sucks big time :mad:In debt no more!0 -
searching down the back of the sofa for loose change then taking it down the shop & giving it all to a rather annoyed checkout operator
yep I think I'm ready to join your saddo's club in*the*red!0 -

£60 for four pounds over your limit I bet your'e fuming! I actually phoned the bank a couple of days ago and got rid of my overdraft alltogether (transferred it onto my flexible loan at a cheaper rate). The guy at the other end was most displeased that I wanted to reduce it to 0 which I was quite happy about! We were spending right up to our limit every month and although I was keeping an eye on it, one thing can happen as it did to you and you are charged ludicrous amounts which screws you for the next month. I also realised the o/d rate was about twice the APR of my loan but hadn't really seen it like that before cos I was only being chared £8-£10 a month interest for it. Would you be able to do something similar maybe?0 -
ITR.
Tesco's are a massive company. Just think about the amount of deliveries they do each day and if they miss an item from each delivery can amount to a huge amount of money.....for them!
Good on ya!October make £10/day currently £11.020 -
The Overdraft (luckily) is a 0% Graduate one up until September (which i'm paying off £100 a month)! But your right i am fuming and it does take the p!ss a bit but i'll live and learn and be more frugal next month! The guy at the other end was most displeased that I wanted to reduce it to 0 which I was quite happy about
My overdraft is with abbey. When I started reducing it by £100 a month last month she was really sarcastic with me and was supprised that people only phoned her to increase it!! Well HAAAAAAHAAAAA i'm not one of them!!!In debt no more!0 -

Thanks Avogirly, I hadn't thought of it like that, just that the person on the other end would think I was really sad - but actually why should I care! I've had an email back from Tesco saying that if there are missing items you have to ring them on an 0845 number - so you have to pay via your phone bill for their mistakes too!0 -
My husband and I bought some sweets at Toys R Us a couple months back, and they didn't give him his 50p off, so the clerk had to get someone to find the advert, get a key to the office, get the form and find the manager to fill it out. We had to wait 10-15 minutes for our 50p, but it was rightly ours. I was embarassed at the time, but it was entirely their fault!I'm an American living in Oxford using the exchange rate to my advantage. (As of 4 Oct 2006: 1USD=1.88GBP)
Debts at highest November 2004: $29,464.51 _pale_
26 June 2006: Down to $17,701.27
Private Student Loan: $3,073.61 (7.83%)
US Federal Student Loan: $14,627.66 (5.3%)
4 October 2006: Down to $11,622.66
Private Student Loan: PAID IN FULL!
US Federal Student Loan: $11,622.66 (5.38%)
Debt Free Date: 27 September 2007, my 25th birthday!

loubie_lou did you know that if you have online banking with abbey you can reduce your overdraft online without having to talk to anyone.
you just have to type in the new amount you'd like it to be & you will get a letter in a few days confirming it
might save you the cost of a phone call & the hassle of dealing with more sarcastic people0 -
I'm really sad too. I remember reading that story about the old guy who picked up coins in the street and now had 3 zillion pounds or something, so now I'm always on the hunt for dropped coins!:rotfl: I used to laugh at people like me, now I'm a tightwad!Mortgage-free wannabe!0
