T-mobile reducing rental if I agree to no upgrade.
Options
I tried to get an upgrade online and was told that I am not yet due on - fair enough I'm about 6 weeks away.
Two days later I get a phone call from T-mobile ( and I asked them twice to confirm that they were T-mobile and not a 3rd party) saying I could have an upgrade or, if I agreed to extend my contract for another 12 months they would reduce my rental by £10 a month.
I was very surprised because I've not heard of them offering reduced rental and I'm only paying £15 a month (on Relax 30).
Is this too good to be true. I really like the phone I've got at the moment and if it did break down we have old phones around the house, so £5 a month for the next year sounds a good deal.
The kids want me to get the Sony Ericson K750i and swap phones so I asked them to call back in a couple of days.
Any advice?

When it was time for my OH to renew contracts they made the same offer to him. He however decided he'd prefer a new phone, so didn't accept. If you're worried that the offer may not be genuine give their customer services a call directly and ask them.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Ask them to send you the offer in writing. That way you will be able to confirm that it really is T-mobile, and you will have a full copy of the terms and conditions - just in case it turns out to be a 36 month contract or such like.[size=-2] If this post was unhelpful, please tell me.

They phoned back and confirmed the offer is for 12 months, in fact, as its direct with T-mobile not through an intermediary, it will be applied straight away ( 11 months since last upgrade) and I will be offered an upgrade or another deal in 11 months time. Apparently if you go into one of the phone shops and upgrade with t-mobile but through the shop, the shop gets a commission so they hold you to 12 months.
He confirmed my rental would be £5 a month for the year.
He asked for my password and I said I was a bit nervous that he wasn't actually T-mobile. So he told me that my password has two words and told me the first letter of each and I confirmed my password. Seemed secure to me.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I volunteer to help get your forum questions answered and keep the forum running smoothly. My oh got 15 off a month (was paying 20, now 5) - 180 quid over the year was a better deal than any of the handsets they could do her instead - hopefully when the year is up in 5 months time she will still be eligable for the same deal (slightly concerned as her monthly spend is obviously not over 20 quid this year...)I think....0

10 a month off is now available if you upgrade via the website. At some time you have to take the upgrade or you phone will die.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
