How sad for all those people working for empire direct - is there any chance you'll get your money back?
I've decluttered the fridge into two bowls for the children - cleared fridge and children fed! How good is that:rotfl: xx0 -

BAH......... OH rang employer at 3pmish.... the girl from HR who was meant to ring to tell him bout job is off today on a leiu day! AND his manager said will be tomorrow night now before he knows bout the job because they have been too busy over weekend to sort eveything?!
So more waiting now....... so if anyone has any left can we carry on the vibes still??!!
If he doesnt get this job were gonna be short come april to the tune of at least £100ish a month as our tax credits will be dropping, our household bills will be going up and our savings which top up the monthly money is depleting at a scary rate since i came off maternity money - they were meant to last the 3 years till DD went to nursery but thats not gonna happen...
ANYWAY...................LOTS of flying done today... including jobs not on the list but have needed doing for ages so while OH was home made the most of it
My list now looks like this..
Monday - Master bedroom & landing
Level Three
Dust and deweb
Extras- Sort through a box of junk fom the landing
- Binbag dance
- Collect all the dirty laundry from upstairs!
- HHI

Hope none of you have ordered anything from Empire Direct, they have gone into administration. I was awaiting a fridge freezer which I paid for via debit card, you know, so I wouldn't get into debt
so I'm not protected, anyway everyone has lost their jobs. Really really gutted for them.
Hope you havent lost too much Triker! The trouble with the world is that the stupid are cocksure and the intelligent are full of doubt.Bertrand Russell0 -
Positive vibes will keep on floating through to you Johanne. Your OH WILL get the job!
House tidy, children full. I'm going to declutter the dining room table.

Evening everyone
Toots well done on the ebaying
Hugs to the poorlies and those who are down and welcome new people
Pigpen - you made a veiled reference to running away yesterday as well - 'fess up hun, what's it all about?
Triker - hugs love - hope there's some way of getting your money back.Dusty: Soappie - hope you first day back at the other site went well
Actual work went well - I achieved which is always nice.
However, one of the first things the chap I'm working for at the new site said was that he was hopping mad because he'd found out from Procurement that my contract isn't being extended. I've got about 20 working days left on it I think - takes me to just about the end of Feb. If he had known, he said, he would never have agreed to me going back to the other site for that time because there'll not be time for me to finish up the work I'm supposed to be doing at the moment.
He's making waves and trying to get hold of someone who can cast some clout to extend. There's a possibility that if he gets the budget for the next financial year which has been requested but not yet agreed that he can pay for me from mid - Marchish. But, at the moment, it looks like I'm out of a job in just over a month. Hey ho.
So, my evening's list looks like this - it's short but very important!- BM
- Parcel up Dusty's mags
- Start polishing CV
I am the leading lady in the movie of my life

Triker - hope you haven't lost too much.
Given the current economic climate, it looks as if it would be sensible to pay for stuff on cards to get the cover. As far as I can see the options are either to have a separate card for 'budgeted for' stuff and pay it off in full every month, or to transfer the money for things to the credit card account when you buy them.
Toots - well done, you're making progress
Flower - keep going... I hope it works. I'm going to try (again) to be in bed and asleep by midnight tonight. I should be back from my Yoga & Pilates by around 9ish, so I'll need to eat then potter about for an hour or so getting ready for tomorrow (and putting the washing on... don't let me forget!), then off to bed
ETA - just done my imeasure results, and both gas and electric figures are down, although electricity isn't down as much as I'd like... must be staying up late and having the lights on that does it!
Johanne - continued positive vibes for your OH0 -
Hi all,
Home and shattered! Walked about 6miles today, all good for the healthy lifestyle etc but I probably should've had more lunch! Home a bit early and demolished a yoghurt and a glass of orange juice the minute I got in and now will get some proper dinner. DH is out tonight as they have a trustees meeting at work so he won't be in til at least 10. I hope to do some flying, will maybe swap the lists over as I need his help to turn the mattress so that would be best done tomorrow!
triker - i think but am happy to be corrected that if it was visa debit you're still covered to some extent. DH's advice is to always use a credit card for any purchase over £100, just pay it off in full if you don't want the debt. They're expecting quite a few more firms to go bust soon and then there will be another wave in late march/ early april when the next quarters rents are due.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
