Nationwide is starting to sound kinda unreliable here....
I also use Halifax and Nationwide and I think I will be checking any transfers very carefully.

Also with nationwide I set up an e-savings account, then so did my sister a few weeks later, imagine my supprise when a week before I went to uni I checked on my account to find that all my money had gone

It turns out that the computerised systems had decided that my sister and I were the same person so put all my money into her account. That meant I had to change my name on my account to add my middle name. grrr.....

I'm not particularly bothered about it now, no real harm done (though I think my pulse rate went into orbit when I realised the money was gone:rotfl:) but was still a stupid error from their computer assuming that 2 people with the same D.O.B, address, with the only difference between their names is the first initial is the same person......

It's all resolved but does anyone know where we stood legally with that, is it the same where the bank could have claimed it back without warning because its not just crediting an account but emptying mine totally for nothing I did???

The OP has confirmed he is dishonest and then complains when people call him such. These mistakes cost us all money in the long run,as does shoplifting etc.People often try to justify stealing by saying that it's from a business not a 'person'-but who do they think pays in the end? The world would be a much easier and more pleasant place if only everyone would be more honest.I am glad to see so many people were not in favour of him not being honest, and I am sure the majoirity of people in this situation would quickly come to their senses and notify the bank concerned.

I expect the op would have been livid and created any amount of fuss had the mistake meant the money was taken from his account but not transferred as he wanted but just 'dissapeared'!
Tomorrow is always fresh, with no mistakes in it!

I agree with that conclusion. Notify the bank but do not give it back unless asked for.
