Ooooh visitors already. Hello all!
OH is still at the stage of tolerating me working. Almost as if its a phase I'm going through and at some point I'll see sense and go back to slobbing around reading books all day. To be fair it is quite hard on him. He leaves for work at 5am returns from work and goes straight to school to collect the DDs. He then cooks dinner and gets them ready for bed. By the time I get home hes usually half asleep on the sofa whilst the DDs do jigsaw puzzles by the fire. The quieter they are the more likely he is to drop off to sleep and so the later they get to stay up. It does mean they behave extremely well for him. I have to say its incredibly nice to have an OH who is so supportive. On the negative side I'm stilll feeling guilty for not being around for the DDs every minute of every day so I do tend to spoil them a little more than I should.
I survived the party but gained a mild case of frostbite in the process. It was like a fridge. At least that gives me something to waffle about when I Qype them later. DD2 had a great time and even kissed the unsuspecting birthday boy. I guess shes psyching herself up for Dai Dwynwen on the 25th. For the non-Welsh amongst you St. Dwynwen in the Welsh patron saint of lovers, so Dai Dwynwen is Welsh Valentines day. The mums were well on their way through a discussion on something or over in Heat magazine when I arrived so I left them to it and read a book.
We arrived home to the smell of burnt Cif cleaner. OH is roasting dinner in the newly cleaned oven (my good deed of the day). I did the ironing before I left and sorted the E-bay stuff into batches, just need to find the enthusiasm to take the piccies and list them on E-bay. It won't be anytime soon though. I'm going to do a few more Qype reviews before dinner. Its all fun fun fun here today!Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Happy rainy monday morning all.
The scratchcards glitched again today so I had 3 goes at St. M!niver winning a whopping 40p but breaking the £10 barrier in the process so I've withdrawn £10 from them. I got another 10p from Take a Break but I'm still waiting to be credited from Saturday nights free bingo although their Ts and Cs do say 48 hours.
I gave in and started tidying the messiest room in the house yesterday. Technically its a breakfast room but in reality its home to Project Landrover, a few bikes and lots and lots of tat. OH spotted me and promptly took over. Why is it if you ask a fella to do something they find every excuse under the sun to forget about it but should someone else start it they miraculously find the time to assist and then take over? Either way theres now a wide corridor through it and the shed at the bottom of the garden is relatively clear too. The wheelie bin may give some unsuspecting bin man a hernia though.
My plans for today are relatively mundane. Drag the DDs kicking and screaming from their pits, shove them into uniform and march them out the door on time. Yeah like thats really going to happen. DD1 will tell me to go away, roll over and snore some more. DD2 will bounce out of bed and spend 25 minutes locating the toys she wants to take to play with this morning whilst her porridge goes cold and then will complain that surprisingly her porridge has gone cold. We'll arrive at school a few minutes late to find a queue of people waiting to get in. Theres never ever a queue when we're on time, in fact on those very rare days everyone else is running late. Then I have a new teacher starting today whos planning to unload his car, enter his classroom and start teaching. I'll believe that one when it happens.
Then the fun really starts ... laundry, washing up and vacuuming although since the vac needs a new belt its more stationary sucking than vacing. Fortunately we only have two carpets so its not a huge job. After that I need to find out why I've recieved a final demand from my dentist. I pay monthly and everythings come out of my account on time and at the correct amount.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

One over flowing toilet repaired at work and lots of bumbling around later I've had a cuppa with a friend and a quick surf before I try and cram all the things I intended to do today into the 2 hours remaining before I go back to work. It has been a productive surf though so its not all bad.
Matched bet #4 paid out £3.73 in profit. I've withdrawn £22 but promptly used £20 elsewhere. Leaving £3.49 actual cash to recoop.
Todays deposits are £10 to Betfair and £10 to Paddy Power netting me a very nice £20 Quidco and a £10 free bet for what should be a 28p loss. They are also offering a very complicated bet lots and lots with us and we'll give you a tenner for every £5 x £10 you blow through. I'm not sure I'm ready for that one yet!Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Yesterday was a very productive day. I finally got round to listing 4 sets of books on E-bay and arranged for the first 25 toner cartridges to be collected from school as part of the current fund raiser clearing out a store cupboard in the first place. Christmas decorations are now in the loft having given up waiting for OH to get round to it.
I've placed another matched bet this morning to take advantage of a free fiver but then there don't seem to be many until the weekend. Those that are available require me to have £80 in my Betfair acccount to make £7.62 from a free tenner. Yeah ok so thats on hold for a bit. I have a mystery shop this morning worth another £12 and at the same time I'll check my bank balance to see where I am and how quick the bookies are to re-credit my account. I will eventually get round to on-line banking but the OH is very skeptical about the security of it, can't say I'm 100% happy but its got to be far easier than locating a working cashpoint on a weekly basis. Here in the back of beyond there are two cashpoints within a 4 mile radius. One charges per transaction and on the rare days the other one is working it never has paper or money.
For those who were following the saga of the school planters concocted from left over bits of wood I can report back safe in the knowledge that the teachers are happy with them. So happy in fact that they wanted to give me a gift so have negotiated the Head up from flowers, choccies or wine to an SDS power drill. Just have to find one for under £100 now.
My mission for today is to change all the bedding, clear the cobwebs from the hall, reduce the number of coats by at least half so that the front door can be opened and write 5 Qype reviews otherwise I'll never manage 50 by the 31st.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Online banking is as secure as you allow it to be - essentially follow some simple rules and it's quick and easy.
Don't leave your passwords lying around (Obvious, but you would be amazed at how many people write them down!)
Don't click on any email claiming to be from your bank. Email isn't a secure form of communication, so the only time your bank will email you is if they want to sell you something :rotfl:
Do use a more secure browser if possible - I don't use Internet Explorer for example.
I can only speak for the bank I work for, but we cover people for online fraud, and most banks will be the same. Some of them (I think Natwest, but I could be wrong) will give you a little gadget to use when you sign in to online banking that generates a random number for you to type in when you log on as an additional security measure.
I have used online banking for years (I hate speaking to call centres in any country!) and I love it. It makes it so easy to manage your money!
Enjoy the rest of your day - good luck with fighting the War of Coats0 -
I do all my banking online EXCEPT for my current account!!!
When I request the pin/customer number for my account the first number comes I put it in once place and the next number comes I've forgotten where the first number is...and so the cycle has to begin again!!!
