Financial faux pas and other disasterous decisions

Yesterday was another fantastic day albeit one involving my impersonation of a beetroot. One of the cleaners yelled "Oi, theres some rubbish in 'ere" so I respond with "thats not a very nice way to talk about Mr. J" as the deputy head (fortunately not Mr J.) exited his classroom. I turned glow-in-the-dark beetroot and he killed himself laughing. It'll be a long time before that ones forgotten. The Eistedffod was fab, especially the 3 year olds who stood on stage in front of 500 people and warbled away. Fortunately no pukers this time. 2006s professionally edited Christmas Concert DVD was sold complete with puker centre stage.
Conversations with the cleaners tend to be conducted at full volume from several rooms away and we tend to forget that other people are in the building and also that we can clearly be heard for serveral miles around. Discussing the merits of the various buzzing Ann Summers products was apparently a bit of an eye opener for the Head. As was our total awe of the primary school caretaker who ran a cannabis growing hydroponic set up from his school boiler room completely undetected until the police raided after an electricity board tip off. Last nights chat about the appropriate birthday present for a 60 year old father-in-law concluded with the mutual descision that Old Spice aftershave was a crime against humanity. Turns out the one of the senior teachers wives bought him some for Christmas.
Almost managed to leave early but the very clever electronically controlled super magnetic main security door decided to glitch triggering off the building alarm and scaring the pants off me. I went to cancel it to discover I couldn't so called the help line who couldn't hear me over the din. Had to abandon that phone to run to the office to answer the other phone - alarm automatically dials out and the first return call made is to the building to see if its a false alarm. Hello I say, its a false alarm. Jobsworth helpfully informs me that I haven't called it in and so its registered as a proper alarm. Yes but I'm talking to someone from your company on the other line. No thats not the correct number to call in case of false alarms even though it says on the panel in case of false alarms call **** which was answered by the fella currently being deafened whilst waiting for me to finish my cosy chat to his colleague. Jobsworth asks me for the top secret password which I'm clueless about (didn't even know there was one). Tells me that she can't discuss this with me any further as I'm not a designated top secret word holder, although I am security incripted as the only thing the system doesn't require to use it is a retina scan. Helpfully she hung up. I jog back to the security cupboard and continue my chat with much more helpful but clearly not top secret security cleared guy who assists in resetting the alarm. Silence. Followed by a ringing phone. Quick jog to the office. Officially cleared top secret security password holder on the phone who has been contacted by security company to respond to an alarm call. Explained things to him. He phoned them back, sorted it all out and I now have my very own top secret password for next time.
Events like that require alchol and junk food so splurged on take out chinese on the way home. The DDs think I'm super-mum although my position of favourite parent was short lived when OH produced High School Muscial 3 and proceeded to torture me with it for hours and hours. DDs thought it wonderful but it is truly the most monotonous thing I have had the misfortune of watching in years. The BBC test card is much more interesting and far less grating on the nerves.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
OH left for work this morning. Its going to take most of today to clear up the evidence that hes been home for the past week. Clearly the chainsaw does not impersonate a coffee table so its current location in the middle of the floor is just a bit annoying. Not quite as annoying as whatever he was doing in the dumping ground under the stairs which involved emptying it and wandering off. Its a surprisingly big space now that it is empty although it must have tardis like qualities as there no way the amount of tat thats strewn across the kitchen and the dining room and the living room and the breakfast room came from the current space. E-bay beckons.
I'm lazily hunting for matched bets to work my way through SBs requirments but the automatcher keeps throwing up teams in far flung corners of the galaxy with no supporters and helpful remarks along the line of you need a gazillion pounds at the exchange but only 50p is available. This could take longer than I thought.
**Betfair have a one week special this week. Recommend a friend and the friend gets £50 which is 5 times more than when I signed up (bets totalling £50 are required) the referrer gets £40 if you go on to bet £150 in the first year. I've added my referral code to the Betfair referal thread on the referrers board. Don't forget to go through a cashback site too! The bookies all seem to be increasing their freebies in anticipation of Cheltenham.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

I have a gun, a staple gun.
Slovenly ho that I am I've done zero housework. I took the DDs to their riding lessons and spent a happy hour befriending a rescued foal. Will tackle the housework after hot chocolate.
E-bay books have arrived unopened having had a lovely tour of the German postal system. Now need to decide what to do with them. Re-posting them means my total postage outlay would be £12. Refunding the bidder minus postage is an option but will result in mega negative feedback as hes the bolshy sort. Thats assuming I can do a refund minus postage via E-bay. I've a feeling hes the sort to start a Paypal dispute and they always decide in favour of the bidder regardless of the circumstances. Will think on it and e-mail him on Monday.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
As he gave you the wrong address can he send extra money to cover the postage?

Happy Sunday morning All.
No chance of a lie in here, the DDs were wide awake and rampaging round long beore 6am. OH wasn't exactly quiet first thing so they really didn't stand a chance. They're vegging in front of th tv with huge mugs of hot chocolate at the mo. which should buy me 20 mins of peace if I'm very lucky. They have some great plans for the day. DD1 wants to go for a bike ride (but still can't ride her bike) whilst DD2 is continuing the excavations for her outdoor swimming pool.
The first five of my qualifying bets for the £75 SB offer have been placed. I wasn't quite so lucky this time. Most of my choices were obscure and as a result partially unmatched at the exchange. Since the minimum bet at the exchange was £2 it would have meant lots of faffing around to correct this and so I burried my head in the sand and hoped that they'd be matched at the last minute. They weren't so I had an unmatched 95p on one game and £1.25 on the other, both of which were arbs. Fortunatley one won at the bookies whilst the other won at the exchange so between them they counteracted each other and wiped out the balls up.
This weeks results are all tiddly ones:
Qualifying bet for a £25 freebie - predicted 32p loss.
Qualifying bets for £75 freebie:
#1 £1.72 profit (rather than the anticipated 6p loss) - balls up of the day part 1
#2 6p loss
#3 £1.00 loss (rather than the predicted 15p profit) - balls up of the day part 2
#4 The less said about this one the better. £6.48 currently unmatched. Will need to sort this out.
#5 predicted 7p loss
#6 predicted 7p loss
#7 predicted 10p profit
Matched betting profit to date £296.24
OHs expenses have been paid. What he remembers spending and his credit card bill are rather different although the profit from the trip is £281 (a bit different to the £400 he was expecting - difference is mostly very expensive beer) which goes quite a long way towards his car service. Only one paying survey yesterday but it is another £2.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
I've done something with the unmatched obscurity. Its not great, but its better than it was. However it goes I stand to lose something. Its just the degree of the something thats undecided but at least my losses are now under £2 which isn't that disasterous.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

When does a fruit not consitute one of your 5 a day? When its consumed in the form of beer of course. Ask a silly question get a silly answer. OH for whatever bizarre reason returned from his mission to purchase fuel and milk clutching assorted bottles of real ale, one of which was a bottle of Wells Banana Bread Beer which claims to be brewed with bananas. It certainly smelt of bananas and more wierdly it tasted of bananas and it was in all fairness quite enjoyable. What possessed him at the time I haven't a clue but apparently its all part of his plan to reduce his alcohol intake by drinking horrifically overpriced beer instead of red wine. Its certainly having an impact on both his wallet and his troosers.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

I count a French Martini as one of my five a day if I get it in a certain bar in town which puts one fresh raspberry in it0
