Since October 2008, you do not have to automatically put in a claim for maintenance through the CSA if you are claiming IS as a lone parent.
Exisiting claimaints have the option of opting out and coming to a private arrangement. You are now allowed to keep £20.00 per week and if you receive any maintenance then you advise the DWP so that your IS can be adjusted correctly. There is no procedure in place to make sure that this is happening.
There would only be a 'big bill' if the CSA were already involved and the NRP paid the PWC but didn't tell the CSA that a private arrangement had been arranged and the file to be closed. If they didn't then the arrears would accrue despite the NRP thinking he was doing his bit and paying. In later years the PWC could turn round and say she got no money from the NRP. Sadly, it can and does happen.
In essence there is no need for the father's name to be given to any authorities. The DWP won't ask as there is no need for them to know.
Anyone can, of course, access the CSA of their own doing whether they are in receipt of benefits or a private client.0 -
i never had to go for mantance through csa when i claimed feb 2007 and again last year
i did however have to let them see a bank statement as to how much was being paid, the only thing they did point out is that what i get in mantance is low (and around half what ca would make him pay)DFW nerd club number 039

I thought Loopy girls post was common knowledge? Everything changed in October where the RP no longer needs to name the NRP for claiming IS, as they can claim a private agreement has been made.0

 I had heard things changed regarding the CSA but i didn't realise it was this drastic! I would imagine there would be many loopholes in the new system.I thought Loopy girls post was common knowledge? I had a private agreement when I was on IS in 2006/07 and the CSA and DSS both knew my circumstances.
I only received £10 a week which I was allowed. I told my ex at the time that he should pay any extra he had straight to the CSA so it came off his arrears.
He didn't.

Lovely sweeping generalisation there eh? Bit like me saying all retired people drive Nissan Micras (v slowly) and have blue hair.
Yes there will be some people that won't and although your disdain for benefit claimaints and single mothers in general comes through your posts and you probably can't believe it, there are decent and law abiding people out there. Yes, even lone parents claiming IS - hold the front page eh?0 -
I am a decent 'law abiding' person. Is a completely legitimate reason i started this thread and a legitimate reason that i dont want to put either myself of the person who interviews me tmrw any emnarrasment at the topic.
Just wanted to know that if i say i dont wish to talk about the situation whether or not they can make me so to speak:j Life is what you make of it, live each day to the full:j0 -
They won't ask and you won't need to be put under any embarrassment.

We shall see. Or rather we won't because no one will know will they?
BTW I have no issues at all with lone parents being supported when children have been conceived in a stable relationship. I do have a problem, which I freely admit, with women having children they are totally unable to support as a career and lifestyle choice.0
