Car tax due.....can i be a week late

not being taxed does not invalidate your insurance as insurance was all my neighbour had and the police said that that actually covered them!!!!!!!!they were not taxed and hadnt registered the car but had driven it for well over 12 months but if something had happened the car could be traced to them due to having car insurance, and to the person earlier in the thread who said i was wrong about 2 weeks grace then i'm afraid YOU are wrong because i have been told this more than one occasion and that is why they will clamp some cars in my street and not others which are still out of date but not long enough to act upon so i have first hand experience actually.
therefore if you are unable to renew your tax disc on time the answer is yes you have a couple of weeks grace or even upto the first month actually but check with DVLA to put your mind at rest!0 -
I actually just got stopped by Mr policeman as I have no tax disc on my car, I only collected it this morning from the previous owner so it is going to take a couple of days for any paperwork to come through, I remember reading this post a couple of days ago, and so I thought I would tell you that Mr Policeman asked me if this was a new car, I replied yes, and he smiled and said in that case dont look so shocked you have a few days to get things sorted ...... wish it wasnt at 5.15pm on a friday !! (guess as previous poster has already said they prob had checked the number plate by the time I was pulled over, and they would have seen it was originally licensed to an owner over 200 miles away)0
