    But the problem with this is....people will start to believe that upturn is on its way and start to buy. This is the second MP talking about this. It may work? Nobody knows.

    She backtracks promptly!

    But that's what she just did!

    The article points out that the same survey by the RICS pointed out that sales per agent were at their lowest since their surveys began in 1978.

    Rightmove's interpretation of the figures on buyer interest vs homes for sale was that there might be recovery at the end of 2009.

    It would have made no difference whatsoever. The constituency I was in returned a Tory even in 1997 and Labour don't bother to stand in local elections in the local ward.

    I didn't like any of the parties' manifestos so I didn't vote for any of them. I didn't want not to vote at all as I think voting is important so I took the only choice open to me.

    I'm not sure how you make the connection between my spoiling a ballot paper and me voting Labour GG old bean.

    There is going to be a shortage of housing though.
    There has been the wrong types of houses built over the last few years.
    Families dont want to live in City Centre Flats.
    Building has almost ground to a halt, we are miles behind the targets the government set.

    House building will resume when the housing market falls back to sensible price levels. It's a painful but necessary correction.

    "First-time buyers are beginning to return to the property market following steep house price falls, figures showed today. Mortgage website mform.co.uk said people buying their first home now accounted for 40 per cent of all mortgage applications made through its service, compared with less than 10 per cent in October last year.

    The group said the increase in applications by first-time buyers came amid a rise in total applications from all groups, including people remortgaging and those moving home....."

    That stampede to the EAs has built up quite a head of steam. :rotfl: Or is that hot air?

    But despite the large sums of money potential buyers plan to save, in most regions it will not be enough to put down the 20 per cent deposit on a typical first-time buyer property that they need in order to obtain a competitive mortgage rate.

    An indicator that prices still need to further before the market bottoms out.

    Nationwide pours scorn on Margaret Becket as it announced -16.6% YoY price falls

    "...Nationwide also dismissed Housing Minister Margaret Beckett's claims of signs of an upturn in the property market. Beckett's claims were based on figures showing more potential buyers signing up at estate agents. But Nationwide said this was no longer an indication that the market was picking up, arguing: 'The relationship between buyer enquiries and approvals has broken down...........'
