Hi SuzySu welcome to the challenge.

I have been selling on Ebay for years now so if you have any questions just stick them on here and I'm sure one of us will be able to help you.:D

    Thanks Doodledo!

Does 'ordinary' stuff sell well? By that I mean outgrown trainers (if good quality), stuff from high street clothes shops like Next/Debenhams? I really have no idea about this do I.....

I know I need to put pictures on, so I'm hoping DD1 will help me with that as she is a whizz with computers.

Do you all put a reserve on or just hope for the best?

Sorry for all the basic questions. As I said in my previous post, if there is a link or thread that covers these things can someone please let me know.

I just hope for the best with clothes. The only clothes that sell well for me is deisgner stuff and some of that doesn't make much at all really at times.

Put a reserve on things if you really really would be gutted if it went for less. I'm just happy to get rid now! :)

To be honest I have sold pretty much everything over the years. If you are happy to sell something for just a £1 profit then put anything on. I am of the opinion as long as I make a profit and its junk out of my house then I will do it. I know a lot of people only sell stuff which makes big money though so its a personal choice I suppose.

Fair point Doodledo.....it is no good to me sitting in the wardrobe and to sell something for £1 profit is £1 closer to being debt free.

    Hi
Please can you add my name to this challenge too. I have loads (and I mean loads) of craft bits and bobs - some was quite pricey at the time - that I would love to sell on Ebay. My problem is that, although I have bought a few things in the past, I have never sold anything and have not the first idea where to start.

Is there anyone who could give me a few easy tips or point me in the direction of a link?

I would like to make £100 per month but not sure if this is feasible. I moved house recently and had a proper clear out and put tons of stuff on Freecycle as that was the easiest thing to do so once the craft stuff goes, I will be stuck for things to sell.

Great idea by the way - I have not joined a challenge on here before, so I hope I can keep up with you all.

the best thing I find to do is find something similar to what you are selling and just take their blurb....no point re-inventing the wheel! You'll see waht category they put it into as well when you check them out!

  • I just wanted to point out my 3000 is for a whole year! I feel a little over ambitious, but it is like Working hard what I need to be debt free!

although it does work out to be about 250 a month also!

Buffy I am holding you to £3k a month lol.

I want to do £1k by June and then another £1k by Xmas but if I get my butt in gear I may challenge you to the £3k for the year.

  • Hi Doodledo

Could I join in too please?

We have had a huge declutter and I now have 3 boxes full of stuff to sell.

Im going to aim for £300 to start with as I have never listed before at least that way I can get used to it and find my house again lol.

    Thank you

Buffy & Doodledoo - you go for it! :T:T

If I were feeling braver I'd join you, but I think I'll get through 100 listings first and see how I'm doing before I take the plunge. Have boxes of CDs and DVDs to get through - it's just having the motivation to plough through them all.

Also have quite a bit of beauty stuff to eBay, along with lots of clothes in a depressing variety of sizes, not bothered about turning a massive profit, would just like the space back - my fabulous & fabulously-organised friend has all her clothes on wooden hangers in her wardrobe, and there's SPACE between them and everything!:eek::eek:

And then there's the craft stuff (I see I'm not alone in this!) - loads and loads to go, I used to make & sell jewellery back in the day & discovered I was a total magpie in the process - must have spent a silly amount of money on supplies in the past (most profits rolled straight back in), it'd be lovely to see some of the cash again.

My plan is to list on Amazon/GM for 60 days or one auction on eBay, then off to the charity shop if they haven't sold - one way or another they're leaving the house!

In fact, as I am feeling braver now, thinking about everything I need to get rid of, I'm going to amend my challenge slightly and say that I'm going to list 1000 things *gulp* - but just imagine the space!

I've listed 60 books on GreenMetropolis in the last week and a half, and have sold two, so am going to include those in my totals (feels like I'm off to a good start now, I was quite surprised as I only thought I had done 40!)

Right, off to update my sig before I change my mind...
