you get a 3 year warranty from microsoft, it was extended from 1 year due to the number of problems.
just ring them and they will collect it. mine broke twice, 1st time was after a year, they replaced it, 2nd time they refurbished it.
i never needed a receipt either, but that was because the manufacture date was on the back of the console.
toys r us wont do anything, they will tell you to contact manufacturerTarget Savings by end 2009: 20,000
