How to stop Debt Management Company calls?

Hi again.
These guys have only just stopped calling me. You cannot bar them or report them because they phone from outside the UK. I have tried every government agency and BT and no-one can help !! I have tried various tactics when they call - I tell them to hold for a minute while I get a pen and paper and them leave them there - 22 minutes later they are still there and I hang up. I have blown a whistle down the phone to them and I have told them I will report them to the police for harassment. I have requested to be removed from there lists etc everytime. Nothing worked. But three months after the calls started they have finally stopped !!! (finfgers crossed - not had one for 2 weeks - yippee!)0 -
Dollydo just said it. About the offshore phone systems hence they get through. I've been plagued - and they've been worse than any DCA calls per day, which is saying something - up to 10 times a day by various companies offering loans, cards, insurance which I never asked for. I phoned one last week called Debt Management, Bolton ... wanted to know how they got my number when it's on the TFP list and as it is they shouldn't be cold calling me this way. I am pretty sure they were actually a DCA using evasive methods to hide their idendity, does happen. Anyway, their reply was that I must have been online looking at credit cards or applying for loans. Yeah, okay. Naturally, when I already know my credit rating is shot to pieces. And I hadn't anyway. What then shocked me was they asked me if I lived alone. What did that have anything to do with the price of tea?
The only other trouble to the TPS is they sell lists to generate income. It's the same with junk mail. I actually found it increased not decreased. Defeats the object of it all but there you go.
But Choose To Refuse is really your best defense against blocking them. For UK based ones. No one should have to change their phoneline because you are not at fault, so shouldn't be forced to. The company making the calls should be. The other negative with doing that is broadband. It would really screw that up for potentially weeks whilst they rejigged your line. Don't get me started on the 10 days it takes to set up a new broadband connection. But you could swear we still live in the stone age.
Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

Perhaps just answer the phone to them, say sorry, hang on for a mo, put the phone on the side and carry about your business. I find they soon get bored with listening to the hoover constantly!Debt 30k in 2008.:o Cleared all my debt in 2013 and loving being debt free

The company harrassing me calls itself "Debt Manager" but won't give me an address or phone number for their company. They are calling from abroad. I receive up to 3 calls per day. Virgin Media who supply my phone line aren't interested and I have registered for the Telephone Preference Service 3 times during the past 18 months when these calls started, to no effect.
I have just bought a personal alarm and intend to activate it against the telephone mouthpiece next time 'they' call. I can't believe how badly this is affecting me. I feel as if I am going insane.

Buy a whistle. It works on obscene callers too.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

The majority of my nuisance calls were from......British Gas.., no matter how many times I told them to remove my number within days or hours I would receive another call.
It sounds awful but I pretended I was confused in the end & kept them talking about corned beef cans & pink elephants, it actually did work.
I will report them through the normal channels with the next call I get.Tallyhoh! Stopped Smoking October 2000. Saved £29382.50 so far!0 -
I get all sorts of Debt Management / Debt Recovery people phoning me asking for a Mrs F***h who isn't me and has never lived at my address but must have had my number in the past - i've had my number for over 5 years so why are these people still ringing asking for her?? The last caller said 'oh she contacted us recently and this is the number we have for her' well if they spoke to her recently why dont they have her correct details!! I get at least one call a week for this woman, sometimes it's been every day! It's bloody annoying as they always seem to ring when i'm cooking tea, or bathing my son or putting him to bed  How do we stop them?0

I don't know why BT say that a number that starts with 0203 is from abroad. My work number (in South East London!) starts with 0203 as does Kings College Hospital and numerous doctor's surgeries near where I live!"I may be many things but not being indiscreet isn't one of them"0
