    Hmmmmph!

    Prepare yourselves ladies...

Don't like the look of that eyeshadow quartet...it looks like something from the late 1980s/early 1990s and not in a good way :D Surprised by the foam applicator too, that lets the look down further for me :(

Is the second item a gloss or blusher?

Still, this might mean I save some money by not buying it :D

(Mr BTVB has just muttered "until you change your mind" under his breath...)

I don't dig the eye shadow, but the lip tint might be nice like the breast cancer gloss they had before. At least the case looks similar.
  • any recomendations for a decent mascara and under eye lightner?
i have both in the no 7 but its hit and miss as to whether i come out in an allergy to them..sometimes i do...sometimes i dont!
sadly i have so many from glitches i keep on using them but think i may need a change now as my under eyes get itchy, dry and red which counteracts the effect:eek:

id like a false lash effect mascara and something similar to the no7 under eye concealer brush on thingie:o
    thanks ladies

I swear by YSL touche eclat as for mascara im trying different ones out just now.

  • Hiya pinkcandyflossprincess,

I tend to become allergic to the No 7 make up if I use it for more than one day and recently tried the Max Factor Masterpiece, for £9.78, much better for me, no stinging eyes.

As for concealer I've tried Touche Eclat and also the No 7 Radiance thing but neither seem to work well for me, so suspect it's the way I'm doing it. Prob wrong shade for me  :D

Oh also got a sample of Christian Dior, the small silver mascara (Diorshow??) and that was really good...all gone now. Just checked .com and the Dior is £18 so maybe ask them for a sample first, lol!! My eyelashes were very curly with this mascara.

At the other end of the price spectrum, the one I used for years before No 7 came on my radar was Collection 2000, never hurt my eyes and never clumpy either, this is one I usually have in my handbag as I know I can apply it really well even without a mirror if need be. Plus it's less than £3 ;)

PS Can someone tell me how come I can't post product pics anymore, is it since they changed .com? Is the only way now to copy and host the pics first? :o

I don't know how it would fare allergy wise, but I have tried many concealers, and maybelline or touch elcait are the best. You get a denser coverage with Maybelline (the mousse) and it does stay on all day, very easy to apply. Touch Eclait is good- the best of the brush types I have tried, but needs more depth to really cover darker shadows. It only comes in three shades, shade 1 for all pale skin tones and white skin tones, shade three for darker asian skin tones, and shade 4 for black skin tones. Its trick is its blendable and has light relfecting particles in it to give the appearence of no dark shadows- so you need sunlight for it to work- and stear clear of camera shots as they will bounce off the light reflecting particles and give you white strips under your eyes in photos! many magazine reporters have this problem in thier mug shots- keep your eye out for it, its funny to see!

I would also try Clinique- theirs is ok, not perfect but passable- its £15 a brush concealer. The reason I recommend this is that Clinique try to not put too many chemicals and perfumes in thier products, so it may stop some irritations. They actually boast about being good for allergy sufferers.

With mascara, I would say DiorShow is the best I have ever used- but may cause problems if your generally allergic as I doubt its formula is that different from others. Clinique again, do a mascara which is excellent, its around £12 and has one side a brush and the other a comb- its the newset one out, I am not sure on the exact name but its got the word definition in the title somewhere! Its very good though! Ecellent volume and definition.

I was going to recommend The Body Shop, but since its been bought by L'Oreal:eek: I am not so sure about their ingredience!

I do think I have heard of a brand which do allergy friendly make-up, but unfortunety I don't know what its called, I did a google search and there are loads of comapnies- I guess its your choice really! (I googled allergy friendly make-up).

    Good luck!

I agree with what you said about the Dior sample. It's absolutely gorgeous and a small sample has lasted aaaagges. It's really dark without being clumpy. I've always thought mascara was the thing you could get away with buying a cheap brand. However, after trying this, I'm finding it hard to go back to No7.
I find the No7 mascara given away in the purple flowery GWP isn't very nice (can't remember name) - I get tiny splatters off it. (Hi Jellybaby, from Jellytots!)

I like Estee Lauder Double Wear mascara, it's the best one I've tried. For a false lash effect the Maybelline Colossal Volume is good, not expensive either. As for concealers Maybelline Dream Mousse is fantastic, I find that it covers completely and still looks natural.

    Hi

Please does anyone have any advice on reducing or hiding under eye puffiness?

I am lucky that, getting close to 60, I don't have many wrinkles but the puffiness under the eyes makes them look awful.

I also have problems with some makeup as it make my eyes sting and water.

Any advice would be gratefully accepted.

Sandra, I hope that your son is ok. I have often smiled at your exploits / comments and hope that this is not getting you down.

Sound like you have sensitive eyes, I would try using sensitive products and make-up on your eyes.
For your under eye area have you tried eye gel, and kept it in the fridge? works well for me in reducing puffiness. hth
