Single Person Water Discount

I've had a letter today from United Utilities saying that from 1st April they are introducing a lower water & waste water charge for customers who live alone.
There is a form to sign and send back if I live alone (I do) and that they will make the changes and pay a reduced amount from 1st April.
Nowhere on the letter does it say how much the discount will be. Does anyone know how much discount they will apply? I have had a quick look on their website but can't find anything.
Apologies if this has been asked before did a search but couldn't find anything.

Not seen anything about this but it's about time. About time single people were giving such discounts. Odd, though, such an important announcement wouldn't be on their website.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. Offered freely, is gleaned from a lifetime of experiences, knowledge gaining. Passed on to benefit others. I may be direct, ask you questions but those are to help you. Up to you if you choose to take it. I won't judge you either way.

Just had a brainwave - I'm cynical of everything, question things a lot; just way life has been I suppose - but could this be like the social tarrif? It's 'well hidden' and you have to know where to look?Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return. I really am intrigued now.
I have complained about my bill (£40 per month)before as live alone and have low water useage (£10 per month on a meter according to their estimated usage guide) but because of where they put the mains pipes I can't have a meter. They gave me a discount for a year or so but nothing recently so maybe thats it they have me down as a complainer and just want to shut me up and stop complaining every year!
Will let you know when I find out more:rolleyes:;):o:rolleyes:;):o:o:cool:

If they can't fit a meter, they have no option but to give you an assessed rate; which is the average charge.
The average charge is based on the number of bedrooms for some companies, or the number of people with other companies.0 -
Right am still searching around online and it appears some water suppliers already do this (they just don't tell you).
I have already found a form for Anglian water that mentions sending in council tax bill to prove live alone and will then get single person assessed charge. Think everyone who lives alone should be ringing their supplier and checking that this doesn't already exist in their area and have not been told abourt it.
Will post more info as I find it:rolleyes:;):o:rolleyes:;):o:o:cool:

I think you need to be careful here.
A single person can be on a meter and will pay for what he uses.
The assessed charge, as I said above, is for those who cannot have a meter fitted.
I believe(not certain of this) that Anglian accept that it is unfair if a single person is living in a 3 bed house(often a widow/widower) it is unfair that they should pay a 3 bed asessed charge and will reduce the charge.
People have posted on here about Anglian's So-Lo tariff.0 -
Mmm. It was the 1 April thing that got me. If only for the obvious. UU wouldn't be that cruel would they?
Also, there is a motion right now that some companies want trickle meters put into people's homes. I think it's Yorkshire Water (may be wrong) that is trying to put it through legislation and other companies apparently are 'supportive and welcome' it. Just got me wondering.Any help, opinions, views I may hold those are my own. Respect them as you would expect the same in return.
