Well I too have definitely seen staff at numerous different stores putting bread etc into bin bags. Not only Sainsburys, but Waitrose and Tescos..
Last week in my local Tesco I saw staff clear all the sell-by date fruit and veg and take "out back" when another ( braver than me) customer asked if they were reducing them, he was told quite firmly no, they are for waste:eek:
I hope this does not mean that there is a new 'manager' in that dept who would rather throw food away than reduce it.
p.s Sainburys do sell bin-bags, so don't see why they should have trouble finding any

But staff can t just remove things from the sales floor.
I can t comment for other stores as i don t work in them ,but i ve never ever seen this happen.Any waste has to be checked very carefully and exact to the penny count kept, with the bar codes of the items.(or internal codes)
If stores are wasting like this due to the fact they can not be bothered to reduce then this is disgusting practice in these times.
Even the goverment is trying to get across the not waste food message.
If i seen this happen i would write to the store manager with a complaint.
There is no justification.
I was not trying to be funny with my post just say that it is so far from procedure. As the security checks of the waste and every thing must not be being adhered to .Around 3 depts must not be doing their jobs right for this to happen.

The store I saw the 'bin bags' was at a Sainsburys Local which opened up near my house about two months ago. The bags were clear bags and they were throwing food into it which did not have reduced stickers on. When I asked, the guy said it was food to be thrown out.
So sad it doesn't even go to homeless people. What a waste
